You know, until you wrote it like that I had no idea that it was a replacement for fillet. I don't know how I missed that. Maybe the regional pronunciation because I'd always heard fuh-lay when the adults were talking so that's how I thought it was pronounced.

And yes, they did call actual fillets fill-ays so I have no idea.

So for nine months (give or take) this lady's been sitting there and the doctors are completely flummoxed by the growing belly? Jesus Christ. Investigate the doctors while you're at it! They were unaware of the pregnancy until she gave birth. Apparently she started moaning, then delivered. I’m not sure, but I can imagine that a person in a >decade length coma might experience a pregnancy unnoticed. I’m sure the fetus was terribly undernourished.
