You think??
I think they movie will do fine. And it will be ok. Rian doesnt need SW to still make movies, and thats great.

That movie was more than terrible.dimejinky99 wrote:VinylGuy wrote:Rian just finished his new movie.
I dont see him very troubled.
An all star cast too. I hope that film is brilliant and makes mountains of money.
I have a sneaking suspicion Disney are watching to see how it does before endorsing and going forward with Rians trilogy.
It was book of Henry’s across the board slating that in part brought about Treverows dismissal from episode IX.

That makes perfect sense though
I believe a Rey "enslavement" (owned by Unkar) was more plausible than Anakin and Shmi being slaves to Watto. At least she lived in a makeshift home and had to scavenge to get her portions.

I truly disagree. I love that is the story for her. Its unique for star wars and its a breath of fresh air. The story moving forward i hope addresses why she is so naturally gifted but that does not have to do with her parents.Anders wrote:As a scene it is fine. We are all part of something greater. We are not our parents, but where we come from, how we grew up, it matters. Yes, of course Han Solo worked in the OT without much background, but that’s a different role. Rey is a lot more, like Luke or Anakin. Now her story is incomplete.Strat wrote:I truly disagree. Ah, but I guess we will never agree. Hopefully for me, something more happens in IX.

She came from nobody. Filthy junk trader alcoholics. That isn't an incomplete story. That is her story.Anders wrote:We are all part of something greater. I feel like you got everything you need to know about who Rey is, how she gets there, and what motivates here from her first few scenes in TFAAnders wrote:That’s not a story, that’s just a line.Strat wrote:She came from nobody. Not really. She’s an adult, resourceful, gets by just fine, has her own place, independent. You don't get much about Luke from ANH.
-Father betrayed and murdered by Darth Vader
-piloting/bullseye womprats (skills for the Death Star run)
-living with Aunt and Uncle, so we know his parents are gone
Rey (TFA)
-parents left her
-force awakens within her, she doesn't know why
-scavenger
-has technical knowledge of spacecraft from scavenging, seeing Unkar tweak Millennium Falcon)

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi
The beauty of the OT was that you are introduced to characters in the middle of their stories; you learn their story beats within the context of the movies. And secondary/tertiary characters come and go as the story needs dictate. And that's it.
In my opinion, the more you learn, the less appealing they become. And the more characters are related to one another (or convenient crossing paths) the more the universe is constricted and the story limited.
