If you want me to expand: Soundgarden seemed as though they were gearing up for a busy new album cycle when Chris died, so I expect the Pearl Jam guys had planned on most of 2018 (even 2019) being pretty low-key, perhaps made family plans or whatever. Obviously things changed and Matt is suddenly available but, given they probably map this stuff out months to years in advance, they may not have songs written, be able to move their lives around at short notice, etc. On top of that, with AC/DC suddenly bringing back their fired/retired members into the fold and hitting the studio with Brendan, their preferred producer is also tied up with other projects.

We know they had a few sessions in the past and there are ideas. I think Ed was in Seattle a few months ago too, so they could still be in the writing process or they could have done something..Matt said in an instagram post he was writing a lot of songs for different projects.

Well, he didnt have songs in LB so maybe yeah, he doesnt share them much. But with SG gone that might change. He did share a lot in the Binaural and RA era.

Matt's songs are fine, a little too Queens of The Stone Age though. I'm really hoping he quits Pearl Jam due to other commitments.

Matt knows how to write a song for a situation. He’s a pro. It’s like designing two logos at the same time for two different companies. You come at them with different knowledge at different angles. I doubt he’s just making up drum patterns all willy-nilly and THEN deciding which camp it will go to.

VG is onto something too. With soundgarden unfortunately gone, he’s got a lot of creative energy that will need to go somewhere. We’ve all seen his interviews where he talks about SG being more of a creative outlet than PJ. So whether he takes his energy to PJ or not will be the question

If writing is such a burden for Ed these days why not just let the other guys write full songs again like they did on Yield-->Riot Act? He can write the singles if his ego needs the boost. More Low Lights, fewer Infallibles. He's gonna read the lyrics off a teleprompter anyway...

Ed was definitely in Seattle after the tour so maybe they did write some stuff but he’s been in Hawaii and Africa for like a month now. Who the hell knows. Week is running out though.

It’s stupid but their social media has been incredibly active so if it’s not this week I think it’ll be soon.
