If every team in the association is scoring like 120 a night, am I really supposed to be that impressed every time I see a stat line that player X or player Y dropped 40? I mean, somebody has to be the one putting the ball in the hoop.

For those who pay close attention - what has changed? Rules favor offense more, or we have an unbelievable crop of shooters out there?

Everybody understands the value of the 3 pointer now so teams are taking more statistically valuable shots like 3s and layups and fewer inefficient shots like long twos. Teams are playing with more tempo so there are more possessions per game, so more shot attempts. The NBA has apparently decided that guys can travel as much as they'd like, including on stepback and side step shots, making them basically indefensible. And I feel like there are more fouls called in general, making it tough to play real defense even if you want to. That last one is a feels like argument, though. Not sure if it's actually true, but from watching games it feels like it is.

They've cracked down on grabbing off ball offensive players this year too so those players are able to come off screens and actions with less difficulty for more shots.

I'd say it is mostly due to the rise of analytics, more players shooting threes (and shooting then we'll), and a faster pace.

Yep. That's why he noped out on an automatic trip to the finals with LeBron.
