Re: 11th album rumors and speculation

With Backspacer and LB we atleast had some vague notice that the band was indeed in the studio and working on new music. They recorded in the Henson studio in LA. And did some mixing in Atlanta, Jeff even made the news cause he was being robbed. Jeff had done many interviews about RNDM or whatever, he always said something about the process of a new PJ record (he wasnt too happy...)/

But now, there's nothing. They clearly decided to keep it a secret or there is zero to none recording done ;)

Unless...
Birds in Hell wrote:If you want me to expand: Soundgarden seemed as though they were gearing up for a busy new album cycle when Chris died, so I expect the Pearl Jam guys had planned on most of 2018 (even 2019) being pretty low-key, perhaps made family plans or whatever. Obviously things changed and Matt is suddenly available but, given they probably map this stuff out months to years in advance, they may not have songs written, be able to move their lives around at short notice, etc. On top of that, with AC/DC suddenly bringing back their fired/retired members into the fold and hitting the studio with Brendan, their preferred producer is also tied up with other projects.

Look, I said it was half-baked.
That seems very likely. But Vancouver is not that far from Seattle. PJ works really fast in the studio. AC/DC does not! They spend months in the studio.
Maybe, just maybe, Brendan works on both records. In that case the band would be recording in Seattle. But where? The only big studio there was (Studio X(formerly Bad Animals) but that one got closed last year. Maybe they are working in Stone's studio Litho. Or maybe they are working the weekdays in Vancouver at the same studio?

Nah...they will most likely book some time in LA soon...whatever... ;)

Matt seems to be writing a lot of music alone in his place. Guessing a lot of that will be demoed for the band and they might record sometime this year.

MM: Has your relationship as collaborators changed over the years?
AMENT: Yeah, it’s weakened. All bands must weaken. The best you can do is try to preserve the basic union. Most of the guys have wives and children. I have a dog and a home. I’m not going anywhere. Ed lives in Hawaii and a few members of the group live in Seattle. There’s no time. There’s no way to collaborate. It’ll never be like the times when someone would say, “This song sucks, but I do like that bridge, so what if I play this?” That is collaboration. Nobody criticizes Ed now because he bring the majority of the possible songs to the table. Everybody acts like Ed's work is untouchable, but I don’t particularly care for that. I want people to have strong opinions because [if they don’t], when I have strong opinions it makes me feel that I’m being unfair and that I have to have kid gloves. Stone never had kid gloves with me. I miss him very much.
