That's certainly an idiosyncratic take on that song, dime.

It probably doesn’t fall under the premise of the thread but the song does sound like it’s falling apart at a few points. It’s always bugged me.

That’s one of the most intricately timed songs in their catalogue. There’s not a thing wrong with it.dimejinky99 wrote:Black dog by led zeppelin. The drumming is all over the place and loses the band at several points. Or perhaps it’s the band losing time with the drumming.

Yep. It’s hard to think of a more tightly composed and performed rock song, honestly.wease wrote:That’s one of the most intricately timed songs in their catalogue. Honestly does not sound like a mistake to me. Just sounds like a wild fill that resolves itself nicely.bodysnatcher wrote:Never noticed that flub on Born In The USA. I AL’d when I heard that, thanks LV

A fill? The keyboard line doesn’t change though. It just sounds like he hit a wrong key and it created a moment of discord.Strat wrote:Honestly does not sound like a mistake to me. Might be a little obvious but I like that they kept Ed's laugh in "Life Wasted." I think it adds a little, er, life to the song.

What I'm gathering from this is that I really like when musicians laugh at their own material.

I think that's intentional

The reason I think it's intentional / a joke is because it makes no practical sense for Mike to do a rapidfire ONETWOTHREEFOURONETWOTHREEFOUR, especially if he is the one starting the song off by himself. I also think it's cool though

Re: Production errors / glitches / mistakes
The intention behind that part of the recording was to get people talking. And here we are like 35 years later on a loosely-Pearl-Jam-based message board and it finally paid off.Strat wrote:Honestly does not sound like a mistake to me. Yeah who knows. It might be a error from another sessions and the band edited it before brain of j too I don’t know but it workstheplatypus wrote:The reason I think it's intentional / a joke is because it makes no practical sense for Mike to do a rapidfire ONETWOTHREEFOURONETWOTHREEFOUR, especially if he is the one starting the song off by himself. At 3:00 - 3:01 in The Zephyr Song by RHCP, there’s a glitch on Anthony’s voice as he sings the word “all.”

There's a noticeably out of tune guitar in Dylan's "Queen Jane Approximately."
