Frost/Nixon (2008)

Yup, Frank Langella was amazing. I was going to say the movie did a good job of being heavily biased against Nixon, which bothered me, but ultimately Peter Morgan (writer) did a wonderful job in humanizing the man.

It's in my Netflix que; heard good things about it.
I watched something last week that's been sitting on my DVR for a while. Hachi: A Dog's Tale. It's an overly sentimental flick that has the feel of a Hallmark movie the week but oh my God does it pull you in during the second half. It's an Americanization of the Hachiko story (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hachik%c5%8d), the inspiration for Fry's dog in that Futurama episode. I admit; my eyes got misty.

Enjoyed both for very different reasons.

Tin Tin was very Indy Jones-ish, and I probably would have loved to have seen this when I was 10-13. It definitely made me nostalgic for that period of my life. Pretty cool animation too. This movie probably would have been terrible if they decided to use real actors instead of the animation. It was a good choice, if that was ever even considered.

Winter's Bone had great acting, cinematography, and a good story. I could see why Jennifer Lawrence received acclaim for this flick. John Hawkes was equally excellent.

John Hawkes was amazing in that one and in Martha Marcy Marlene whatever...both performances were incredible.

I look at the man, not the politician. And it's not like he didn't do good things while in office. He was an American president. I feel that anyone who gets that position truly believes they're making decisions to better the country. But that doesn't mean they're without their flaws. And Nixon was definitely a flawed & haunted man. But he wasn't a Hitler, as Sam Rockwell's character would lead you to believe. He made a big mistake and he lived with it.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. Gave up on it half way through. Reminded me in tone of Safety Not Guaranteed.
I liked Frost/Nixon but didn't get as much out of Winter's Bone as some of you have.
