“Interesting” and “OMG IT’S THE SMOKING GUN” are very different reactions.

An example of why it’s interesting to me is that it focused on misrepresenting Trump’s popularity relative to other GOP candidates (that’s not quite the interesting part), and so the fallout and the sense of being taken in lands on a very different set of shoulders, politically:

It’s a pretty unaccomplished counter move, though (as evidenced by Trump apologist Graham calling it the folly it is). It’s the sort of “I know you are but what am I” move that speaks to Trump’s ego, but runs counter to his goals.

Also, given the massive power the House has to allocate funds for White House programs (or to not), flexing White House purse power is super, super weak.

I believe Trump's polling nadir was sometime in December 2017. I have no idea what drove it so low, although it was around the time Flynn was indicted.
