So as the Torys continue their endless ‘who’s the best headless chicken’ routine, Europe has just laid the law down.

This is what we’re dealing with.

‘why doesn’t Dublin, why doesn’t the Republic of Ireland, leave the EU and throw in their lot with this country?”

BBC correspondent to Irish minister for European affairs.

The Republic of Ireland are lucky that they will still be in the EU. Is there any chance for a reunification of Ireland in the long run?

How are we lucky? Last poll had 92% of Irish people asked happy and approved of being in the EU. We’re not going anywhere :)

Yeah the DUP by their own backwards stubbornness have brought about the very thing they hate even the idea of. A United ireland.
If it’s a crash out and hard border, we’ll see a referendum in NI and Ireland on reunification within a few years and all the polls north and south suggest it’ll pass comfortably.

That’s what I meant. Lucky compared the the Scottish, who have to leave the EU against their will.

I hope you get a reunification.

Yeah the Scots are already getting ready for an independence referendum post brexit. It’ll pass too. I’m not sure a United ireland is a good idea right now. We should take a long hard look at every single issue and there are millions of issues, before we countenance that.
But it’s looking like a firm possibility just over the horizon.

Latest episode of the Irish Passport podcast has an interview with the Sinn Fein president talking about Irish Nationalism, Euro Skepticims, and Irish Unity as it pertains to Brexit.

I haven't listened yet but these guys do a great job with this stuff.

Heard it. It’s only an excerpt. You have to be a patron to get the whole interview.
Mary Lou is quickly rising in my estimation. But I think she’s banging the drum far too early.

Wait until after brexit and Northern Ireland and the border is feeling the pain. Cos it will be first to and hardest.
Then Float this idea.

They had a whole convention about ‘beyond brexit’ yesterday in Belfast and while it is great and we need to have those conversations (where the unionists aren’t at all) I think it’s all a bit premature.

They’re doing ‘England’s difficulty is Ireland’s opportunity’. All over again. But more than ever.
They’re like the dog that’s seen the Hare. They should time it better than they are.

*listening to the Remainiacs pod which is good and the Brexit Republic which is excellent. The latter two of RTÉs European correspondents and the former some well informed hosts from the guardian etc. Both pods know what they’re talking about and just talking about the state of play rather than the hype / drama.

*both have major players from all sides on as well.

Chud check out Coveney earlier on this morning on BBC. He takes Marr out for a walk.
(Coveney is our deputy prime minister and Marr is one of BBCs main political correspondents, for the innocent rubber neckers among us)

Guys my wife bought the airplane tickets and we're going to be there for three weeks late June/early July. Will there be an England to visit, or will it be like V for Vendetta?

At least if it all goes apocalyptic I won't have to pay any of my wedding suppliers.

They will probably have applied for the extension by that point so it should be fine.
