Re: The Running Thread
Definitely wasn’t trying to be a jerk there. “Putting you in the basement” was more of a self deprecating flex post that meant that I’ve run 1.7 miles this week.

Re: The Running Thread
So I went for a jog today to see if I could run through the lower leg and ankle pain that's been discouraging me as of late. For the first mile, I really didn't think I was going to be able to do it. I ran about 400 meters, stopped, walked a bit, then started again. Then it was painful, but bearable. After about a mile I could have gone either way but I would have hated myself if I had gone back before my planned turnaround.
After pushing more, the leg pain just kind of disappeared. I hit a point that felt fucking awesome and I ran through my end point to grab another half mile and round it out to 3.5. I could have easily pushed it to four miles but I was on a schedule.
The best miles were my slowest ones at the end. I've been aiming for sub 9:30/m pace all along but I'm not really going off of anything other than what I think my lungs can handle. A friend of mine told me that he kept hitting a wall at 5 miles until he started slowing down. Now he's training for ultras.
Am I just running too fast? Is it the shoes? Why the hell do my legs hurt so much this week?

Re: The Running Thread
Good to see you back on Strava, verb.
WM, are you going to follow a 10k training plan for your race? That'll help give each run a sense of purpose. When I first started running I really struggled the first couple miles of every run to get out of that "why am I doing this to myself?" mindset.

Thanks bros. I feel okay today. Not going to do back to backs for a bit though. The Kinvaras I got seem nice. They've really improved since the early generation I ran in.

Re: The Running Thread
Echo the kudos I. This thread, Verb. Those whips look good.
I’m curious about how I should be running these runs. Is it better to keep most of it in the tempo zone or should I go for more endurance or threshold? I’ve noticed my tempo pace is a lot slower than the average pace I record on Strava.
Yeah, I pulled an incremental 8-week program from the internet that allows for four days of running per week. I’m getting antsy waiting for it to start so I reckon I’m running more at one time than I should. Who knows.guestT wrote:WM, are you going to follow a 10k training plan for your race?
