Finally found an American Rauchbier I like.

Crown Valley Black Cabin Smoked (Missouri)

Hops - Fuggels and a high alpha acid hop
Malts - Smoked, Pale, Chocolate, Vienna, Special B
IBU - 25

==========================================

I really want to try the Gotterdammerung.

Had a few Union Jacks and a Wookey Jack while in Saratoga Springs this weekend, it's indeed damn good stuff.
Get your hands on the Sucaba and Parabola when they come out next year. Amazing stuff.

I think I've mentioned it in this thread before but almost all Firestone beers, especially union jack, gives me a killer headache

I've heard great things about both of those brews, however the likelihood of me planning a NYS trip to fall in line with their release is slim but I'll certainly try.

Also, if driving by Saratoga Springs on the way to Glens Falls I would recommend dropping by the Olde Saratoga Brewery; partnered with Mendocino Brewing they had a fantastic White Ale Wit and Imperial Stout on draft this weekend, regular rotation brews as well.

EDIT: What I took home:

Bear Republic Racer 5 (sixer) This might be my favorite IPA, so drinkable it's sickening
Firestone Walker Wookey Jack (bomber) Better then Double Jack and would rival Sublimely Self Righteous for best Black IPA, in my opinion, the rye adds a nice finish
Mendocino Seasonal White Ale (Wit) (growler) Great wit, really surprised actually not usually a fan but the spice is spot on
Two Brothers Hop Centric (sixer) Took a chance, bit of a standard DIPA
Uinta Hop Notch IPA (sixer) This stuff is just stupid good, 'Best by' date is a few months out and I don't doubt it with the amount of head I get now
absinthe makes the heart grow fonder...

i enjoyed this brew on saturday at the suggestion of a gauge-earring-wearing liquor store employee and it turned out to be surprisingly good
I have an irrational hatred of gauge earrings.

Glad you liked the beer. After years, I'm finally coming around to Belgium style IPAs.

Picked up a case of their pale ale a few weeks ago. It was definitely good, but not something I'm willing to shell out $45 a case for on a regular basis. Will have to try this next.

Their Pale Ale isn't one of my favorites, but I do love their IPA and the Ruination IPA.

Have any of you tried Einstok out of Iceland? It is fantastic! The White Ale especially. I am not sure if you are seeing it in other parts of the country, but it is popping up here in downtown LA. If you see it, I highly encourage you to try it.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is pretty much my go to beer. Because of that, my local distributor reccomended the pale ale over the IPA. He said the west coast brews tend to be much hoppier. I was impressed with Stone. I always thought they were just marketed really well and that it wouldn't live up to the hype. I'm looking forward to trying more of their stuff.

Theres a homebrewing thread, yeah. A few questions, dry or liquid yeast? How long have you been waiting? What temp did you pitch the yeast at and what temp is it at n

I tried Wilco Tango Foxtrot by Lagunitas last night. My next door neighbor was given a bottle and he shared it with me. I could tell that it was a quality beer, but was much maltier than I like. Tonight we're going to drink Hop Stoopid by Lagunitas. Looking forward to this one.

The Hop Stoopid is AWESOME. It's has an 8.0% ABV , but it doesn't taste like it. Wish they sold it in 6 packs.
