I think it's pretty clever that this pre-album campaign seems to be pretty passive. They must know that nobody has the motivation to play a treasure hunt this time.evenslow wrote:Yeah they pretty much have to make videos in today's landscape - anything they can do that gets them an Internet cycle of attention (so, 47 seconds). I imagine they have a bunch of things to lead up to album release. Official MYM video, individual band member videos, whatever that interview project is that Steve Gleason mentioned, release of second album song, etc.bodysnatcher wrote:ugh, this argument.BDB wrote:remember when pj didnt make videos?
I'm excited they are making a video for MYM. the song, lyrics and theme are just begging for great visuals... kind of like DTE. it's another avenue to make their statement on what is possibly the overarching theme of the album, going along with the artwork

I'll see your "better than the Fixer video" and raise you a "better than World Wide Suicide guy playing with a ball video."stupidmop wrote:Baby steps.evenslow wrote:well that's a helluva low bar, but i'm all for optimism.stupidmop wrote:I dont wanna say it too loud incase i jinx it. I think alot of people (not BDB specifically, but i saw someone pulling a "pearl jam sold out/are posers" they started making videos again too" argument earlier too) think the no videos think was a statement or pj trying to all hipster about thier artform or whatever, rather than them trying do draw the least amount of attention to themselves as possible for a while because it was driving them crazy.
Now that they're not everywhere or feeling any pressure/media heat they can do what they want.
Was there a life wasted one too? Cause i've never seen that either.

You've never seen the zombie video? Those zombies were probably the best thing about S/T.stupidmop wrote:I think alot of people (not BDB specifically, but i saw someone pulling a "pearl jam sold out/are posers" they started making videos again too" argument earlier too) think the no videos think was a statement or pj trying to all hipster about thier artform or whatever, rather than them trying do draw the least amount of attention to themselves as possible for a while because it was driving them crazy.

Conceptually, it's probably about the end of the world, and what we'll all be doing in our post-apocalyptic space capsules.... playing with balls.

Yeah. I understand the metaphor of the dude playing with the ball in the context of the song/album.... but...

That video would be so much better if the camera pulled back to reveal the band waiting to use the bathroom.

Also, if that little ball represents the globe and the kid maybe represents God... it's like "GOD, FUCK, NO, PUT IT DOWN YOU'LL BREAK IT."

Re: Mind Your Manners
I actually think it wouldn't be as bad if it was just the ball dude, without the band bits. If you're going with a weirdass metaphor, commit to it!
Maybe it would have worked better with unemployable or something.
