I'm pretty sure there are other now middle aged white politicians who have worn black face for a party/Halloween/something in their younger days.
Heck, I saw someone do it for Halloween just a couple years ago.
Forgive my ignorance on the rules of the Commonwealth of Virginia, but if Northam resigns, Fairfax becomes governor, but then who becomes Lt. Governor? Is that someone he installs? Special election?

I'm no longer ignorant. Fairfax would appoint a Lt. Governor who would remain in place until the next November general election. So all this talk of the line of succession is really kinda silly.
So if Fairfax resigns before Northam, he can name a new Lt Gov who would then become 2nd in line? It'd be some underhanded politicking, but makes the most sense for the party. Although I haven't seen anything that makes it seen like Northam is going to go.

What are recalls like in VA?
Gotta Agnew him.
Yes, of course. Made Ford my favorite Jeopardy clue (the only President never elected President or Vice President).

As I understand it, if Herring is anything other than AG, then the Republican legislature gets to appoint his replacement, so that's one complicating factor. But I do agree that the Democrats will try everything they can to hold as many offices as they can.

the concern with politics over doing the right thing is pure garbage from any party. Just resign and let things work out how they are legislated to work out.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.
