Re: Virginia
I am sad to say that when I was in college, if someone had suggested that I dress up in blackface while he dressed up as a Klansman as a funny Halloween costume. I would not have been smart enough to say no.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

The problem is that "doing the right thing" is subjective. Many Democrats believe allowing Republicans to have power is "doing the wrong thing", and vice versa. Without necessarily agreeing with this, I think it's at least defensible for a Democrat to argue "allowing a credibly accused sexual assailant to hold office is worse than allowing a Republican to hold office, but allowing a Republican to hold office is worse than allowing someone who wore blackface decades ago to hold office."surfndestroy wrote:the concern with politics over doing the right thing is pure garbage from any party. Just resign and let things work out how they are legislated to work out.Green Habit wrote:But I do agree that the Democrats will try everything they can to hold as many offices as they can.

The media will find aVA republican that wore blackface in college as well, and Northam will be old news. He just needs to stall a few weeksGreen Habit wrote:The problem is that "doing the right thing" is subjective. "What will keep me in power?" is a terrible measure for what is "right." The only question that might result in worse behavior is "What will kill the most people?"Green Habit wrote:The problem is that "doing the right thing" is subjective. Funny you say that, through my feed I read a Democrat arguing that a Republican ascending to power in VA could mean killing people via rolling back their Medicaid expansion.B wrote:"What will keep me in power?" is a terrible measure for what is "right." Again, no endorsement, but that type of sentiment is definitely there in politics.
