Played this for seven hours in a few days (whenever I've had free alone time). So far I've enjoyed the Spirits Campaign the most. A couple of the fights have been really tough. I think I spent an hour on Roy.

Can you use the regular directional pad to move around on this or do you have to use the analog??

I believe you can remap the controls to swap taunts and movement so you can use the D pad for movement.

Correction: I don't believe you can according to Google. I can try it later today to confirm. Something about the way smash attacks are mapped to sensitivity of analog sticks.

It doesn't bother me for Smash since the analog stick is actually useful.

I'm not very familiar with other fighting games, but I do feel like the analog stick does help a lot in Smash. You may be able to try a demo of it at a store somewhere to see what you think.

I don't know that any particular mode speeds things up. What character(s) are you looking at maining? I used to play Samus and Kirby on N64, but they're not as great this time around IMO. I had the most success with Ryu and Pikachu. Sonic has some cool shit going on, too.

None. Unfortunately, the game is really bad and you should give it to your nephew as a gift like I did. He will thank you for it later.

Sometimes it's fun but then 2 seconds later I think it's the worst fighting game ever made

I have no clue what I'm doing

Kirby is the only fighter who I'm not completely terrible with

It's a ridiculously deep system. Even as a very good Tekken player, the "beginner" mechanics seem bizarre to me. Hugely rewarding game if you take the time to learn, mind.

Part of it is just how absurdly large the roster is.

True, but it's more about developing your own fundamentals than having memorized your opponent's moveset. The better player can win with anyone -- hell, I was playing random a whole bunch and had the greatest success with the Wii Trainer chick. It was bizarre.

Still having a lot of fun with this. Especially World of Light. Played a few hours yesterday, and time just flew by. Struggled with the Kirby Team.
