mankind is an unapologetically stupid song that I have a lot more time for these days since my understanding of what pearl jam should be is much for fluid. And it's a good performance.

This is a mixed bag version of Of the Girl for me. The chief drawing card is the atmosphere, which you can't help but lose quite a bit of when you transition to a live song. And I dont' think eddie's performance is anything special. But I actually quite like the looser feel of this version (and the work Mike is doing throughout). It gives the song a sense of movement I don't find on the record, which tends to tread water.


So voting for Of the Girl on the strength of an excellent performance by the band
