Argo

People really need to stop taking this shit seriously. The Oscars have been an anti-art joke for a very long time.
3 of those movies you listed are brilliant, though. And another is so fucking good. And another still is decent.

I haven't seen Green Book but I'd be surprised if it has any value outside of Ali's clearly amazing performance.

The love that movie got makes me think there's some kind of fix in on it. Just mind boggling.

Roma won just about every indicating category, though (except editing) . Not that that really means anything. Still it was interesting. I thought for sure it would win BP until it won FLM. Then I had my doubts but still thought it had decent odds.

I wonder if black panther had won would we be seeing all these same people saying it was a hollow victory for black and only suits our white overlords?

They’d find something to bitch about that’s for sure

How so? Malek is amazing in it. Rather, it doesn’t seem highly appreciated around here. Perhaps Queen was a lot more influential in Europe?

GF confirms yes.

I loved Bohemian and thought Malek was incredible. What a fun movie.

It won SO many awards and I don't know a single person who liked the movie.

Rami's was the only award it earned that didn't feel purchased.

Again, I haven't seen it. Maybe it's awesome. But the couple of 2/3 min clip/scenes that I've seen are awful.

But I'm kinda taking out of my ass here. I need to see it before I give it too much shit.

To be clear, I adore Queen. I grew up on that band. They were one of like five artists that my parents listened to all the time. They were my mom's favorite band. My feelings about the movie have nothing to do with my feelings for the band.

Which makes total sense to me. I think it's win is stupid, too.

Not one person that liked the movie? That’s insane. Must be a country/region/continent thing then. I haven’t met a single person that didn’t like it, and most loved it.

It’s a fun movie and Malik gives a great performance. Probably a career best.

I love him as an actor. One day I'll watch it just for his performance. But I'm in no hurry.

One of the best parts of the movie is how they also managed to capture what its like to be a fan of a band. beautiful.
