All of this Howland Reed talk is making me think of Robb's plans for after Edmure's wedding and making me sad.

Re: HBO: Game of Thrones (Song of Ice and Fire)
Robb weds Roslin then heads north to retake Winterfell. Stannis meets with Mace Tyrell and convinces him that joining with the Lannisters will be a losing move, so Willas Tyrell is betrothed to Shireen Baratheon making him Stannis's heir should he take the iron throne. The Dornish throw in their lot with the joint Baratheon Tyrell forces in their quest to make the Lannisters face justice for their crimes during Robert's Rebellion. While the Starks are rooting the Ironmen out of the North, the combined anti-Lannister forces lay seige to King's Landing. When they're ready, the Starks march south again to join them. King's landing is sacked and the Lannister are defeated. Tywin and Joffrey and Jaime Lannister are all captured in battle. When it's clear they have lost, Cersei poisons herself along with Tommen and Myrcella. Stannis is wounded in the battle and while he is recovering, Hand of the King and Lord of the Rainwood Davos Seaworth has his own hour of the wolf and sits in judgment of the surviving Lannister forces. Tywin and Joffrey are executed. Jaime accepts an offer to take the Black. After taking his Night's Watch vows, Lord Commander Jon Snow names him as First Ranger. King Stannis sends a force north with the Starks to join up with the Night's Watch to fight the real war that matters.Monkey_Driven wrote:Oh, of course. Meanwhile, Daenyris Targaryen lands on Dragonstone with her dragons. By this time Stannis is secure on the Iron Throne but she realizes that the true struggle lies to the north. She sends her dragons north to join the forces of the realm to fight the Others and prevent the long night. Bran reveals Jon Snow's true parentage, but it doesn't matter because both Jon and Danaerys die during the fight to prevent the Long Night. The Targaryen line is ended, and King Stannis rules justly for decades.

That sounds awful. I can’t wait for Stannis to die in the books.

Stannis and Danaerys both have legitimate claims. Daenaerys's claim though can be relegated by Jon's legitimacy.

Re: HBO: Game of Thrones (Song of Ice and Fire)
Well there is also Jon Snow (rightful heir to the Targaryen line), Daenarys (most known heir to the Targaryen line), Robert’s kids (recognized as such from their birth and past his death, and also his bastards that are of his blood). Robert’s claim of course existing because he took the throne from the last king. But yes, if you can’t crown a bastard, and not a child that is not of his blood, and the Targaryens were after all thrown out, then Stannis has the strongst claim on paper. Which means very little in Westeros. Besides, Stannis would be a horrible ruler.JuanHamm wrote:He's the rightful King.Anders wrote:That sounds awful. I can’t wait for Stannis to die in the books.
