Bone Machine is so good. I was maybe 20 when I heard it the first time. I remember I was laying in bed hungover, when I put on the cd which I had borrowed from the local libarary. After it finished playing I immediately got up and walked about a mile to the nearest record store and bought the album to myself. Definitely one of my favorite albums.

Watching this doc on Tom and someone referred to his work --- and Bone Machine specifically --- as "surrural." And I GODDAMN LOVE that. Maybe that's common around him but I'd never heard it before.

Also... how good is this shit:

The phone's off the hook, no one knows where we are
It's a long time since I drank champagne
The ocean is blue, as blue as your eyes
I'm gonna take it with me when I go

Contender for Tom's all-time best lyrics?

Well, we stick our fingers in the ground,
heave and turn the world around
Smoke is blacking out the sun
At night I pray and clean my gun

The cracked bell rings as the ghost bird sings
and the gods go begging here
So just open fire when you hit the shore
All is fair in love and war

Hoist that rag!

"Actually, that's not clicks and pops, it's fried chicken."

I'm down a DEEP rabbit hole, folks. My apologies. I'm gonna try a Top 5 songs list....

1. Time
2. Earth Died Screaming
3. Hold On
4. How's It Gonna End
5. Whistlin' Down the Wind
