At this point I think the band is purposely trying to undermine my 19 years of loyal fandom.
Or maybe they are purposely creating lame things now in some postmodern/meta commentary?

I haven't listened to MYM in over a month before watching the video.
MYM is equal parts S/T and Backspacer.
Zero parts anything prior to S/T.

I'm not sure what else they could've done with this song. It fits. And, they have to do it these days. I'm sure they hate doing them.stupidmop wrote:This might tip you over the edge but the fixer didn't?darthvedder81 wrote:It's like the DTE video but made with Flash animation.

That being said, I don't care about music videos. I've watched it twice, and that's enough.

This video is best watched through an Eddie Vedder projector.

To me there wasn't much to hate about that video. It's basically just them playing the song on a stage in a fake live setting. If I hated the Fixer I probably wouldn't like it but I don't hate The Fixer.stupidmop wrote:This might tip you over the edge but the fixer didn't?darthvedder81 wrote:It's like the DTE video but made with Flash animation.

The MYM video has cheesy animation and iPod commercial Eddie jumping around. No thanks.

That's basically My thought on it. I really like the Jeremy and dte videos but I don't think they're this bands 'thing' really. It was never gonna be a masterpiece but I'm just glad its not awful.EJ wrote:I'm not sure what else they could've done with this song. It fits. And, they have to do it these days. Also, Tom Waits is responsible for some of the worst music videos I've ever bothered to try watching.stip wrote:well we'll have that at least. Some great songs on it though.McParadigm wrote:I didn't like Bad As Me, stippers, and thats a durn record.

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
Couple things:
1) I like the video. It's kinda cool and clearly is trying to say "something". I just don't know wtf it's trying to say.
2) The video actually doesn't go with the song at all. The song is about religion, or seems to be and the video was about war
3) If the video provides anything at all, it's hope that this album is concept-related, kinda apocalyptic.. (although I think the inclusion of Sleeping By Myself may destroy that thought)
At the end of the day, I don't get Ed. He's got this viewpoint of "let's scream about the guy who was in office 8 years ago, and when people get upset, F them"... fair enough. That makes sense, but "8 years later (when said guy is out of office) let's have videos about war, about how everything's f'd up, and play fundraisers for the guy who's in office today." Wtf?
I wish this video made sense. Someone help me please...

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
The people over at the only Tom Waits board I ever check were pretty consistent in considering his last album a huge disappointment when it came out. And that's all it was, just a disappointing record. They like Tom because he's capable of great things, and they by and large didn't get them...so they were frustrated.evenslow wrote:Link please for the Tom Waits message board where you troll people about their modern day enjoyment of Tom Waits thanks.McParadigm wrote:Also, Tom Waits is responsible for some of the worst music videos I've ever bothered to try watching.stip wrote:well we'll have that at least. Thanks for the update. How did they like his performance in Ironweed?McParadigm wrote:The people over at the only Tom Waits board I ever check were pretty consistent in considering his last album a huge disappointment when it came out.
