This is a great move by RT
It wasn’t movie reviews being posted but comments in a section that polled if you were planning on seeing the movie or not. RT just showed that they have changed their business model from being unbiased movie review aggregators to now being just another promo wing for studios. I think this is going to backfire on RT.
That said I plan on seeing Captain Marvel opening weekend.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

Also since when is RT not a promotional wing for the studios? There are stickers on DVD/Blu-Ray boxes for Pete's sake.

Apparently the comments section for episode IX had thousands of comments uniformly saying how terrible it is / will be.

Rt is w handy tool for big studios when it’s results are blowing favourably their way.

Now I wonder have they all banged up to somehow pressure RT to change their format

If they did no big deal. It’s the right move.

Yeah I know it's disingenuous but I laughed at the joke in the last panel.

Looks like NIN did a collab with Marvel after all:
"MARVEL APPROACHED NINE INCH NAILS ABOUT DOING A COLLABORATIVE TSHIRT IN CELEBRATION OF THE RELEASE OF CAPTAIN MARVEL, IN WHICH CAROL DANVERS PROUDLY DISPLAYS A NIN SHIRT THROUGHOUT THE FILM. THIS ITEM WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR A VERY LIMITED TIME ON THE NIN.COM STOREPRINTED IN BLACK ON A WHITE, 100% COTTON, ENZYME WASHED, MENS TEE."

https://store.nin.com/collections/cloth ... -tee-white
There's also a gray one.

Yes there's already people giving shit about the "mens tee" thing.

this was fine - an average marvel movie. Brie Larson was great and I am excited to see her again, so it wss a good character launch in a 3/5 movie

the good
Spoiler: show
1. Brie Larson was charming and fun - sarcastic, but in a more playful and empathetic and less smarmy way than a Dr. Strange or Tony Stark. And she is an extremely talented actor. There was a lot baked into those little moments, with nothing ever really oversold. No one in the MCU really occupies her space. She is definitely a character I want to see more of.
2. It was fun watching a young Nick Fury and see some of the things that would shape him
3. The skrull twist was unexpected and very good. I assumed that Jude Law would turn out to be a villian because I knew that Yon Rogg is a villainous character, but t didn't predict the skrull thing
4. the actress playing Maria Rambau was also good - I bought their friendship
5. Goose was fun. I wish there was a little bit more of him. But his bits were good
6. Nice job mining the 90s for humor
7. the sequence in the shield facility when the skrulls came looking for Carol was very good - especially the way they played around with the loud lights.
8. They did a good job making her an empowering hero without drawing too much attention to what they were doing. There were some ' you're a girl and you can't do this' elements, but they were period appropriate and not too heavy handed (and built more around her character than her gender). She got to have some character moments similar to something someone like Captain America has regularly gotten and it was great to see a woman get those beats without making it about the fact that she's a woman - which would have politicized her character in a way that would have fit awkwardly with the story they were telling
The less good (nothing was bad)
Spoiler: show
1. I liked the early fights before she really got her powers. Once she was running around punching spaceships it was a little less interesting - in part because it's hard to find people to threaten her. It's the Thor/Hulk/Infinity War Iron Man problem. You can have interesting 1-1 fight scenes with mega powerful villains, and it's fun in small doses to just watch them tear through weaker enemies, but it's hard to feel like they are ever really threatened. That may just reflect my preference for heroes at the Captain America power level - where someone with a gun can still pose a threat. But I guess comics regularly find ways to write their way around this, and so has the MCU.
2. The needle drops were distracting. Maybe it's because these were mostly songs I have a prior relationship with so it is jarring to see them in a movie.
3. It takes a little while for the movie to find its pacing. The first third is a bit clunky,.
