Parting Ways and its not even close. Specially going with those amazing, SY oriented versions from 2000

The ending of PY (the drifting away...) part was really great until it got all sonic youthy, which totally broke the spell

This is a close call. Good versions of both songs. It would have been an easier vote for parting ways until the very end

I’m a fan of Education. I think I like it quite a bit more than most, and this was a good version. That version of Parting Ways blows it out of the water though. Really good stuff. And again, my favorite part is the part stip doesn’t like. Go figure.

The 'drifting away' section with the underlying noise is the best part of the song, and the main way it differentiates itself from the studio recording. 2000 Parting Ways performances are some of my favorite performances this band has done, and it shows that the guitarists are actually pretty damn good at using their guitars to create sound beds or noise, which is something they rarely go for. Maybe it's sparing usage makes it all the more powerful when it is used as it is here. Education was never a song I was over the moon about, but this is a serviceable performance of a pretty cool song. It's just facing a better opponent.PHATJ wrote:I’m a fan of Education. I’m going with Education for no reason other than I was at that show.
Let me tell you, Homer Simpson is cock of nothing!

I would vote for pretty much anything from that Lubbock show.

A live version of Parting Ways is what convinced me Binaural was worth revisiting.

Re: 34. Education vs. Parting Ways
Education is a gem. Maybe the Vic 2007 one is the best version. Wouldn't really matter though in this matchup. Parting Ways is the clear winner here. Always great to hear live recordings of it.
