meatwad wrote:Fair enough, but my next question would be is Pearl Jam the only band that you don't really like anymore yet continue talking about/engaging with and hoping for something different after so long? I guess that's the weird part...if I didn't like any band anymore I'm kinda done with following their every move and having discussions about their music (that I no longer like anyway). Seems like a huge waste of time/energy, especially for a band that's been around as long as PJ.
I don't think there's anyone here who likes the band's older output any less even though they've been disappointed in the band's recent material, almost everyone here is still a Pearl Jam fan in some respect (even if their fandom is strictly historical).

It's also the nature of the board having existed for a long time; people have developed friendships and camaraderie with other RM posters (and the Pearl Jam discussion is only one aspect of this place, perhaps not even the dominant aspect) and so it doesn't seem unusual to me that they'd continue to hang around, even once the initial reason they came here has fallen away.
This makes sense and gets a head nod until you take it a little further... some of these people who hang around for the camaraderie talk the same shit over and over and over again. This is what meatwad was getting at - the eternal question is not why still post here, it's why still post the same negative shit about something you haven't liked for years and years.

But again that's so baked into the RM cake at this point I don't even ever think about it much anymore.
Yes, and yes. I'm not saying "please go away" .... although that might be healthy for you and for others, that's totally up to you. But, Jeezus, we have heard you loud and clear. I barely come around here anymore, it's broken record and no one says one damn new thing when I come back here after several months.(and that's not on the band, that's on yourselves).... just complete rot. I just have to find somewhere else to go, and well, I have plenty of other outlets, no biggie. If someone ever says anything slightly new or different, I'd certainly love to come back and engage, cause it can be fun and illuminating. But I'm not counting on it.....
Look, im strat, i love pearl jam more than most, but the band hasn't done anything new in 6-14 years depending on who you ask. There's nothing to talk about right now. This allows for the same jokes to be recycled in the similar fashion pearl jam recycles their MO for the past decade.
No, you are blaming it on the band and are not coming to grips with what you yourself can control. Whether the band releases anything that interests you or not, you are perfectly capable with coming up with a fresh and new thought.
Nah. There is literally nothing new or different to talk about with pearl jam. not until they drop a new album or a new song or something.
their hairlines?
This same argument about the quality of Pearl Jam's music and those who still remain active in this forum (and sub-forums) has happened repeatedly on this Board since before the 2004 crash. And it happened again w/ the release of S/T. So, really nothing new here.

I'm not a perfect RM poster and have made my mistakes, but every time I give PJ grief, I do try to also include a complement. Earlier in this thread, I had harsh words about The Fixer, Target and records S/T, BS and LB, but noted in the same post that I adore Pendulum and Severed Hand.

Thanks. I've acted like an ass on this board at times and while I'm still not perfect, you kind of learn and figure out this place over time. I am grateful that RM still exists after all of these years.

It's just sad, you know? The band and its fans/errata are just rusting away due to inaction and constant nostalgia. TwoFeetThick blog has been hacked an no one cares, setlists and sources have long not been updated at the bootleg trading site, and the band doesn't care much (if anything) about the 10C any longer. And nothing's going to replace this stuff, this is just how it ends.

I'm bummed that a band (and their surrounding things) that played such an integral part of my life for 20+ years are at the end of the line. Such is life.

Where is Caryn Rose when we need her?

Who among us didn’t love her site Five Horizons back then?

A top 5 PJ song in my book. Never understood why it's so underrated among fans.

I used to be a top 5 guy, I’m probably closer to top 20 now, but still a great song.
