We watched the first half of this, and the most shocking thing was that I found out my wife had never heard the Cha Cha Slide before, so she thought it was entirely made up for that sketch.

I liked the Mulaney episode with the first two sketches being the best ones but that was mostly because of Hader. I did like that they did another elaborate musical sketch with him again too. Kate McKinnon & Ady Bryant's slide up during Update was fun in a disaster kind of way.
I noticed during Weekend Update they seemed to be running long. Thomas Rhetts' second song was it for the evening and instead going to the goodbye they finished with a title card for the last few minutes.
Overall a pretty good episode made even better by comparison to an otherwise fair to middling kind of season.

Man, that whole episode was solid. Music notwithstanding.

Mulaney should host like once a month

Loved the Cinema Classics sketch, even if it went longer than it needed to. Kate McKinnon is a huge talent

Not bad this past week either. The R Kelly opening was especially strong but I laughed a few times the whole way through.
Next new episode is not until March 30th.

i think kenan thompson's range is pretty limited, and he's only funny in certain situations. i didn't find him funny at all in the r kelly skit, but he was pretty good in the can-i-play-that game show skit (which frankly, though, wasn't great).

Why is Weekend Update a platform for Pete Davidson to talk about himself now?

Because like it or not, he's the star of the show who most relates to the younger crowd, Gramps.

I don't think that's true. It's probably just because he has a huge dick.
