I believe that's the intention of the writers.
To cast an actress who's just all-round awful?

Watched episodes 3 & 4 last night. Wild stuff. Robert Sheehan is killing it as Klaus, yeah. It's like a more constrained version of his Misfits character. After Geostorm I was worried he was making some really bad choices but this one's a good look for him. (Side note: The image on his wikipedia page makes him look like Eddie Redmayne's brother) (Side side note: after looking at his oeuvre I think I was right the first time: He's making some wild choices)

The way that Cha-Cha and Hazel get mail is interesting, as is the result of the briefcase flip, so I can't wait for all that.

Finished the fifth episode - "Number Five" - and it did a few of the usual TV trope things (I'm going to check the attic but wait, I'm stopped by a conveniently timed distraction as well as the "no one can know!" final shot...ugh) but I really liked the way the show dealt with Klaus and his PTSD. I haven't seen Punisher so I can't compare the two but I heard it was pretty well done.

I couldn't tell what her 'power' is, but it sure seemed like a Pied Piper sort of thing.

I wonder if that guy is one of the other forty-three kids? I know I'm probably going to find out but that particular aspect of the mythology bothered (bothers) me: why just those seven? Were they the only ones he could find? Or the only ones he could buy? Again, this is probably in the comics - or even forthcoming episodes - but it's what I'm thinking while watching.

Also: How can the Commission know so much about so much and yet they have no idea who or what The Umbrella Academy is? Or at least those two flunkies? You'd think that would be mission-essential data.

Yeah, I liked the humanity of who he was in that episode, just trying to get close to someone after all that.

I also - as a fellow faceless employee in a bureaucracy - enjoy his takes on that aspect as well.

Full-on spoilers here so if you haven't watched episodes 1-7 stop reading.

I watched "The Day That Wasn't" and "The Day That Was" back to back and I think that's the best way to approach those two episodes because of the story line and it's diverging paths.

I knew about Ordinary Boy just from stupid ads on IMDB (I went there to see if I knew him from anything else and there were several ads talking about the show and his role) but I figured he was one of the other kids, not a rando. So OB is a little crazy, but is he crazy enough to pay three guys to beat the shit out of him? I think he is. Also still unsure of her actual power though.

And your post about the writers wanting you to hate Ellen Page make a little more sense (she was drugged) but it's slow going on her "I guess I am special" even when presented with evidence.

Also the tv trope of "I'm going to tell you something important to the story but oh wait I got cut off" was in both episodes. That's crazy. And we appear to be at an end game but also have three episodes left? I guess that makes sense, there are three days left.

For some reason the show is giving me a Utopia feel every now and then. Maybe it's the hitmen, maybe it's the "end of the world" motif, but it's putting me in the mood to watch S1 again.

Still not sure what the Commission really is, or if it's really 'done' after that little act of sabotage. They seem like perfect psychopaths though, so maybe not actually human?

Finished the show. Early thought is I wish people would stop doing time travel if they don't understand what a paradox is. Did Vanya say a single word in the last episode? It didn't seem like she did. And I wish wish WISH someone would just stop and listen to women. Maybe? Just fucking stop thinking you know what's right and LISTEN. Jesus.

Not a fan of alien dad with no explanation for that scene. If you're not going to try to explain it, don't show it. And I know it explains the violin but his reaction (non reaction) to her wanting to play the violin later doesn't match his reaction to his wife dying and giving him the violin.

My enjoyment lessened over the last three episodes. Just too many things that showed up out of nowhere.

I strongly support the Bill & Ted school of time travel. "Time travel is nuts. No one knows shit. Do whatever you want with it.
Just don't make up rules like you know what's going on."

Jesus this season was all over the place. A few plot holes and storylines I didn't care for:
Spoiler: show
the kid with Vanya having the powers. Pointless.

The father is what, an alien? They show that one scene then never address it again

The ending "cliffhanger". Unnecessary. Just send them back to maybe the dad still being alive.
Idk, just felt disjointed this season

Me too. My daughter decided to watch it over a week during my work hours so I didn't have to be around while it was on.
