Re: The Work-Out Thread
15 miles with ~3,200 in elevation change in 2:12
A double loop of my favorite trail. Hit the trail at 4:00 with my headlamp. Saw 2 rattlers within the first mile. Went out too fast (big surprise) and made it to the saddle (half-way point) in 30 flat. Made a point to slow down on the backside and finished the first loop in 64. Pissed, filled up my handheld, ate two gels and ditched the headlamp at the trailhead before starting the second loop. I got it up my ass that I was gonna attempt a trail PR for a double loop. Pretty much ran as fast as I could to the saddle and made it there in 28 minutes (30 minus 2 minutes at trailhead). Started sucking shit on the second half and made it back to the trailhead in 2:12. Second half of the second loop took 38 minutes. 3 minutes slower than my double-loop PR for this trail. Saw 4 snakes and a coyote.
It was a mad scramble to get back home in time to get the kids ready for school.
Sleep is for the weak.

5 X 5:45 miles with 2 minute breaks
Speedwork on the treadmill. Felt great considering the 15 miles I put in this morning. Probably my best day of running in at least 6 months.

I'm doing a Color Me Rad tomorrow morning. Going to totally goof off and jog through the thing.

Raced another 5K this morning and I PR'd by 12 seconds.
Now, I've gotta go to work.

How long is the course? Sounds fun, I wouldn't mind doing one sometime.verb_to_trust wrote:I'm doing a Color Me Rad tomorrow morning. Going to totally goof off and jog through the thing.
Another good Saturday morning workout here. After weights I did 15 minutes on the treadmill at 5mph and five minutes at 4mph. Had to work off a steak dinner with several glasses of wine from Friday night. I don't know when the last time I ate myself so full but damn it was good; a thick NY strip with roasted potatoes and multiple unusually tasty rolls dipped in garlic butter

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Its a three mile course. I would recommend it if you have a group of people you could run with. I spent about 30 minutes in the shower getting the stuff off of me this morning though.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
I didn't think I did anything in particular different last night but my quads, and to a lesser degree my back, is feeling a little sore this morning. And without treadmill!
But it's the good kind of sore fo'sure.

13.1 miles in 88 minutes
Trying to erase the bad taste of Sunday's crash and burn, I hit the canal for a redo. Felt solid. Could smell just a hint of fall in the air and the thought of hitting some trails to annihilate some PRs gave me a running boner. Even split with a little finishing sprint. Brought no handhelds, but stopped at 2 water fountains along the way. Great run.

Great endurance aside, how in the hell do you fight the boredom?

I have zero talent and try to make up for that with dedication and effort. In short, I'm generally trying too hard to be bored.Harry Lime wrote:turned2black wrote:13.1 miles in 88 minutes

13.1 miles in 90 minutes
Left the house at 5:30. Took it pretty easy at the beginning, but found 90 minutes too tempting and picked it up on the return. 36 out. 34 back. Half-mile finishing kick.
Went to the gym after work yesterday to do a body-fat reading and just as I suspected, I'm actually a disgusting piece of shit. I'm gonna start hitting the planks pretty hard.

Your long distance running discipline is really impressive. Especially in that AZ heat. Do you have a big race you're training for?turned2black wrote:13.1 miles in 90 minutes

Re: The Work-Out Thread
I'm still undecided. Either a sub-3 marathon or an attempt to make the 24-hour national team. Either way, I'll be doing the Canyon again in October and shooting for a sub-4:30 rim-to-rim crossing. If I decided on the 24-hour thing, I'll do a double crossing, but still focus on the first rim-to-rim leg because my last rim-to-rim was a fucking disaster.EJ wrote:Your long distance running discipline is really impressive. That's awesome, good luck with all of that. Did we ever see pics from that first attempt? I think you posted one.turned2black wrote:I'm still undecided.
