President Trump issued a bizarre, indirect warning Monday that his supporters could get “tough” on his political enemies at a “certain point,” in a clip of a Breitbart interview spotted Thursday by The Toronto Star. “You know, the left plays a tougher game, it’s very funny,” the president told Breibart’s Matthew Boyle. “I actually think that the people on the right are tougher, but they don’t play it tougher. Okay? I can tell you I have the support of the police, the support of the military, the support of the Bikers for Trump–I have the tough people, but they don’t play it tough—until they go to a certain point, and then it would be very bad, very bad.”

Also, with Clinton in ‘92, he did not stand for anything and had anything but a clear message. He was frankly guided by getting nothing more than his expected share of the vote while Bush lost a tremendous number of voters to Ross Perot (19%). He was a victor of circumstance.

Lots of studies have uncovered evidence that seems to debunk the "Perot myth" in the past few years. There's probably something to the idea that Perot stole momentum and mucked up the either/or that comes from a two-party election, but any measurable metric points to Perot pulling from Clinton and Bush supporters nearly equally.

That’s one of the most disgusting things a sitting president has ever said. But the reality is, Dems would be idiots if they ignored it.
He’s going for tactics never seen before so his opponent can’t counter. Hello campaign shock and awe.
He simply gets to say ‘fake news’ when he gets accused of it.
Dems need to construct a response to this. One that isn’t just playing him saying it in an ad. Can they though?
