Glens has 5 albums out since Ed’s last one.

whenever Mike talks about new music with PJ he always sounds like he's a session musician instead of part of the band. his comments always sound something like "i guess they'll call me when they need me again"

With Mike more involved in lots of side stuff, and Jeff and Stone seemingly more and more irritated with Ed's lack of willingness to get together, if they do put out another album, I'm almost certain it will be their last one. :|

And Matt doesn't give a flying fuck whether they do more or not. I just think he likes the touring at this point.

I have the feeling that Ed is trying to find his best self so their next album isn't another piece of garbage. Maybe he's using the European tour alone to come back with a renewed mind/body and present a refreshed Ed to the band. But, he won't succeed if he doesn't work on losing that massive ego of his. The photo for the tour poster is a bad sign.

haha good one

I don't know about the id. He really needs to try mindfulness meditation. It really would fix so many problems. He would learn to face reality on reality's terms. He's not his imaginary 'punk-rock' self. He needs to stop forcing himself to be someone he's not. If he would be his real self, I bet the music starts to sound pretty good and his relationships would begin to stop suffering. And then the other guys will love him and write better music to accompany that newly realized true voice of his.

I here they're recording at Litho. Same as usual, sharing ideas, McCready's songs discarded right away.

I agree with much of what you are saying but I think you should give him more credit than that. A lot of his self individuation is seen across the albums if that is any basis for evidence, but that shows he has some insight into the human condition and how important that congruence is (to anyone really but so much to an artist)

I just wonder what his true voice really has to say at this point that is relevant to PJ or even his solo work. The most authentic songs in recent memory are Future Days or Just Breathe, most other songs feel forced for sure.

Yes. He needs to be himself, more like in those songs, but better. It's like he's embarrassed to delve fully. It would be grand if he did.

I agree he deserves credit for the past. He sounded genuine at times. And in those times, he was widely revered as a great voice. People recognize when someone sounds genuine. These days, he sounds like he's trying to be someone else. It's like he has a memory of who he thought he was that he's clinging to. He needs to meditate, let go of all that, be in the present and truly rock again. I don't think the RRHOF probably did him any favors in this respect.

So much for the Pink Floyd influence, ala Sirens

i'm getting pretty tired of wondering about them at this point. i'm sure i'll get a 10c email once a new album pops up, but in the meantime i'm gonna stop caring

I think that's how Mike will find out about it too.

not gonna lie, a few songs that aren't trying to shoehorn a Mike solo into them sounds pretty nice

They need to take a Radiohead-esque approach and switch up some instruments. I can see Mike on a bongo or synth or something. At least it would sound new/different.

That’s something a band that is prolifically writing music together might try. Not one that meets up every few years.
