The one PJ song that is most recognized by the casual fan
Meaning none of us here.
I have two different thoughts on what it could be:
Jeremy or Evenflow - The ex-early 90's frat boy (now in his late 40's) who only remembers Ten, but who still shows up to arena shows and sings either Evenflow or Jeremy obnoxiously loud in his 90's EV voice (which is really a Scott Stapp voice). These are the songs that get the guy in front of you at the concert to constantly turn around while singing, just to show you and everyone else he knows the words to the song, all the while leaning back and screaming with his head tilted towards the sky during the chorus to Evenflow or when Ed sings "cla-hass, todaaaaay" in Jeremy.
Better Man - The late 40's woman or insecure guy at a concert with his girlfriend, who, in all of these years, still don't know the actual meaning of the song. Instead, they think it is about their awesome guy (or the guy thinks it is about him while he's singing along with his woman).
My vote goes to Evenflow, because even outside of shows, when I talk about PJ to non-believers, most people interupt me and sing "EVENFLO-HO" in the worst EV/Scott Stapp voice imaginable.

Could be Alive or Last Kiss too. Just Breathe is the only PJ song played on soft rock radio stations - I’m sure to a certain demographic, that’s the only PJ song they know.

Yeah, I thought about Alive, too. That lumps in with my thought on Jeremy and Evenflow.CopperTom wrote:Could be Alive or Last Kiss too. Just Breathe is the only PJ song played on soft rock radio stations - I’m sure to a certain demographic, that’s the only PJ song they know.
Should I start a poll?

I am convinced it is Black, but I could hear arguments for Last Kiss and Jeremy. However, I do think that there are a bunch very recognizable for casual fans, including Daughter, Small Town, Alive, Even Flow, Better Man, Just Breathe...

I went with Alive bc it’s consistently the most listened to song on Spotify and charted on Last.fm

I'm going Black. That's the one that gets the most protest when I skip it on a bar playlist, usually accompanied by something along the lines of "man, you're skipping Pearl Jam?" Everyone knows that outro.
