But I liked it a lot. Fun characters. Wonderfully absurd action. Dug the fight choreography. Mark Strong is awesome. Julianne Moore (I didn't know/remember she was even in it) was fantastic. Pedro Pascal should be in everything.LoathedVermin72 wrote:I'm afraid to ask, but how'd you like The Golden Circle and Fate?durdencommatyler wrote:Over the past week I watched:

Fate was good, too (though I probably, ultimately, liked it slightly less than TGC). Again, I've never seen any of the other films in the franchise, so I felt behind on the characters and wanted more explained/connected. As a result it felt very plot heavy without enough character grounding. But that's my own fault. I'm sure if I'd seen the others, I wouldn't have felt that way. The set pieces are fucking STUNNING. The action is tight and gripping and so much fun to watch. Theron and Statham are the standouts (performance wise). It actually made me want to go back and watch some of the other films in the series.
I like that both movies have super high stakes but manage to maintain a real sense of fun (and sometimes flat out absurdity) without ever veering into parody or disrespect of their genre.
You have to see the first kingsman film. It’s so much more fun than the sequel.

Disagree extremely strongly. The first is mediocre, the second is great.dimejinky99 wrote:You have to see the first kingsman film. Just felt the heart wasn’t there in the second and it wandered too far into lampooning the genre whereas the first kinda just winked at it.
They’re making a prequel apparently. Let’s see what that does.

If the prequel doesn't include Egerton, and I don't know why it would, then I'm not interested. He makes those movies for me.

The fight scene in the church is one of the best of the genre. I'll give you that there are times you can almost hear the "1 and 2 and 3" from the choreographer but it's still amazing.durdencommatyler wrote:The Golden Circle surprised the hell out of me. As dime said - in his own way - he's not in the film as it's a prequel. I feel the same was as you and have no interest in it at this point, though a good trailer or two would sway me.E.H. I wonder if his being in that Elton John movie is why they went prequel?

The fight scene in the church is disgusting, and my least favorite part of either movie.

Ok, cool. I was totally confused because I didn't remember a church fight in TGC or in F8.LoathedVermin72 wrote:No, the first onedurdencommatyler wrote:The church fight in Golden Circle?

Like is an adequate word. I think it did what it set out to do. I got a little bored at times, but it was an adequate movie.doug rr wrote:anders, did you like searching for bobby fischer?
