Episode 8 of season 2 was not very good. Way too much slow-mo and telegraphing.

I look forward to this season starting off strong and finishing weakly like the two before it.

lol, I was wondering why that scene seemed familiar.
BurtReynolds wrote:I think the problem for me is that it tries to be the Goonies, but the characters are just nuts. Where The Goonies were forced to keep going because they were being chased by murderers, these kids have no reason to do what they do. They are like "hey lets go on this wacky adventure!" when everything around them is saying "Tell your parents and get the fuck out of town!"

And don't get me started on

that older sister and the tree, or wtf the cop planned on doing in the secret base. Jesus H. Christ.
Too much bad character motivation for me.
Just finished that episode last night. My reaction to the sister was "and that's why white people always die in horror movies" and then for the cop I could only think about the conversation that Hopper had with the security guys about how many security cameras they have. So I was happy when the guy said that to him when he got caught.

The kid who peed himself looks like a typical kid-villain from an 80's movie, it's weird looking at him.

Spoiler: show
It lost some serious momentum around episode 7 with that odd story line with Elevens origin. I thought it was really forced. I really enjoyed Steven's turn from Bully to Hero.
We watched that one last night and I couldn't help but picture Deep Roy in drag every time they showed Eight; the gigantic wig did not help that either. And those heels made her look so strange.

I did not like how the started the season with her. There were just too much going on from E1 to E7 for it to work well.

That's an obscure pull, yeah.

I can see that, but I disagree.

The characters were defined by what they did with their powers. Of course the one that has trouble with revenge killings and crime is going the be the empowering one.
This was better than what I was going to say.

Going to watch episode 8 tonight.

Something that's been bugging me about the park episode: the two kids were acting for us - the viewers - that whole time. I get that they knew the phones were bugged and that they'd be watched at the park, but they were acting the whole time like they were actually there to meet the lady and tell her something instead of some sly "let's get arrested and go tape the guy talking to us" scheme. And you're telling me they didn't inspect the bags when they brought them in? They know the kids are up to something but not once do they say "gee, is that a tape recorder in your bag or are you happy to see me".

Also I had a recorder like that. The idea that it would record that well from inside a bag is laughable.

Wasn't in love with S3E1. But I'm still interested to see where it's going.

We’re up to Ep7. Really enjoying this season so far. Eleven is basically Jean Grey/ Marvel Girl at this point. Well, Phoenix too, considering last season.

I guess the reason I’m thinking this is so fun is that it’s all just like a comic book on the screen. Story to script to effects to characters. It’s like I’m reading a comic from 1985. And I love it.
Let me tell you, Homer Simpson is cock of nothing!

Verb, you've been hit-or-miss for me on RM since the NBA Finals ended but this post had me rolling.

This was a fun season. It felt more tight and energetic than past seasons, like they knew how to make all 8 episodes count. Almost felt like a long movie.

Yup.

I loved it. It was well paced and it felt like every moment of screen time was used purposefully. This might have been my favorite season so far.

Watched S3E1 last night and I must say that was the exposition episode to end all exposition episodes. Visually very good, but not much happened. I lol'd every time Mike was on screen after that verb post.
