Nobody's forced to listen to the leak if they don't want to, I don't see how it makes any difference.

Obviously. But it does make a difference too if you choose to listen. As most people seem to.

What I'm saying is that I don't think having heard it from a crappy leak first will make any difference, in the long run, to how people feel about the album.

Thats not a requirement. My buddy is a complete Lebowski junkie, he probably can recite thye whole film from his memory word for word, but he doesnt care for PJ one bit.

Shit, Ed even modeled his whole look around The Dude.

Niall Doherty is the review editor of Q magazine in the UK. he tweeted this last night -

Title track of the new Pearl Jam album is the best of all their worlds: hard, heavy, a ballad, lighter-waver, fire-starter, epic & intimate.
I think what we've heard if the song would be enough to tell you if you'd agree with that.

Though what the hell does fire starter mean? A song worthy of arson? Maybe they're going all prodigy on us.

I'm not so sure. As I said earlier, it's not really fair to the music as we wouldn't be hearig it in its best light. But hopefully it won't happen.

By the time music today is mastered is far beyond it's best light most of the time.

Well I think the ST 'demos' proved that. Almost hated that record then I heard the premastered versions. Far more interesting.

Oh god they were such a pain in the ass to buy and figure out how to get off my phone and upload here. I don't want to go through that again this time.(But I totally will if that happens) :)

Id say the ceiling is the limit from what we could make out in that soundcheck. I'm crazy fucking excited for that song. It sounds like it could be a real Pearl Jam epic.

Btw I will really try not to listen to snippets. I was too let down after a few sounded like they'd be better.

Yes, the clip made it sound spectacular. I still like it OK but that section is the best part.
