Re: Boston Red Sox Thread
Mookie deserves to be the highest paid player in the league and should go after that if he wants to, but I don’t think they have ever paid market rate to one of their own free agents. It’s hometown discount or take a hike, I’m honestly trying to think of an exception to this and can’t.

Maybe Pedroia, but at the time that was considered a bargain with Cano’s free agency looming.

Reports that Sale is almost ready to sign a 5/$150m extension.

chud, you have YouTube TV, right? This is my first season with it. How do you deal with games that run long? Any way to adjust recordings so they can run an extra hour? Or do you just set up the postgame show to record, too?

Quite the lineup for the Sox opener:
Btw magic number is 163 (no appropriate image).

7/10/9/4 isn't a bad stretch to open the season. Then 10/10/10/3:30 in Oakland next week, woof.

This is why the West is the best when it comes to spectator sports.Simple Torture wrote:7/10/9/4 isn't a bad stretch to open the season. Then 10/10/10/3:30 in Oakland next week, woof.

Ugh, I hope Sale does better when I hope to see him live in Oakland than how he's doing right now...

Re: Boston Red Sox Thread
I think getting bent out of shape over anything except the starting pitching after this past weekend is an over-reaction. I am sure the starters will start logging 5+ IP outings soon, and the bullpen (which has performed well) won't be overused all summer, although the next week might be tough.
Good for Xander, btw. Wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it when the extension was being discussed, but I feel pretty comfortable moving forward. Kind of weird to think of him as the elder statesman of the homegrown talent (especially since he's only 6 days older than Mookie, and a year and a half younger than JBJ), but his consistency makes me happy we locked him in through his age 33 season.

Re: Boston Red Sox Thread
I mean, I guess technically he did? I know you didn't sign up to see a change-up-first pitcher, but 3 hits and 1 run over 6 isn't bad.Green Habit wrote:Ugh, I hope Sale does better when I hope to see him live in Oakland than how he's doing right now...
