Spoiler: show
where did they get those really nice scissors? Billions of them would have had to have been made. Only thing I can think of is they were standard issue rabbit scissors used to dine with.

Really dug this. Jordan Peele is emerging as a powerful and engaging voice.

what did you liked about joe? I was entertained, and i liked his framing and overall aesthetic. But i found his intent to have a political subtext always embarrassing.

A lot of people are complaining about it being too political but I didn't think it was coherent enough to be annoying in that way.

Yeah. Whatever the hell the subtext was, it was incoherent at best. Nothing in this movie makes a lick of sense when you think about it for 60 seconds.

I guess I wasn't concerned with nor thinking about politics during the film. So, I don't have any input as far as that stuff goes.

I am really looking forward ep watch it again, though. I'm super curious what the second viewing reveals/upholds.

I mean, the surface narrative doesn’t make any more sense.

I didn't have any issues with that. But I'm an idiot.

Pretty much.

The subtext (along with the rest of the movie) was undercooked at best.

So, what is the "subtext" that you all find so questionable?

I don't find it questionable, it's just not compelling.

Can you articulate it for me? I'm just curious what didn't work for you exactly. Like I said, I wasn't tuned in to any of that so I'm curious what I missed (or ignored) that didn't work for others.

Spoiler: show
I felt like he was pointing to the dark underpinnings of human existence without showing us them in the main characters. Adelaide, in particular, was played too straight and clean. The exchanges between her and her "dark half" did nothing for me and took away from the action/flow of the movie.

I would have preferred either more subtext or none at all and have it be more bloody and nihilistic.

This looks good yeah.

Oh, Joe never texted me back.
Do you mean our Joey?

I made this joke too. If they could make those, why not just make guns?

Anyway, this was no Get Out which I absolutely loved.
