Not sure either. The video expands the scope and makes the song more wide ranging. but to me the song had a message right away. It just hit me today how glad I am that Jeff got involved, btw.

I don't agree. I don't think Jeremy would have been as huge if not for the video. Compare it to something like Black which became just as big without a video or official release.

Well I think it's gives the song an extra weight and clout.
Im a big fan of visuals when they're done well. I think this video adds a lot to the song.

Does it even have any sense comparing the role of a video today and in the 90's?

Eh I don't buy that for MYM. The video did nothing for me. It's okay but really didn't add anything to the song. The song was more powerful to me without the images.dimejinky99 wrote:Interesting point from a different pj forum.
It's simple... DTE and Jeremy were able to stand on their own two feet sans video. This song benefits from the video much more substantially.

Do you think the video hurt the song?

The video was a tiny bit poppy and fun but in good way. The song does that but only in retrospect.

The video fit the song perfectly I think. It's hard for a bunch of 50 yr olds to pull off this political punk rock shit. It can so easily come off as cheesy, but the boys manage to do it just fine. The video was interesting, although a little generic, but thoroughly enjoyable.

Guys, it was a lightning cartoon and some stock boom boom footage with a pretend performance placed over it. The band was only pseudo involved, all of two weeks were put into it anyway, and nobody watches videos on the Internet that don't involve sex acts, guys playing minecraft, or cats.
If its silly (hint: it is), there's literally nothing wrong with that...or with acknowledging that. And if it's great (second hint: nope), then its pretty much a happy accident, and its still just a music video with no cats or minecraft.
