Which Isbell album is the best Isbell album?

All I've heard is The Nashville Sound and I goddamn love it. What else should I key into?

I rank his solo stuff as follows:

Southeastern
S/T

The Nashville Sound
Sirens of the Ditch
Something More Than Free

Here We Rest

His covers EPs (Townes Van Zant w/ Elizabeth Cook, Warren Zevon and Lykki Li with his wife Amanda Shires) are worth tracking down too. And of course all his DBT stuff.

I've been doing a pretty deep dive into his stuff over the past few months and I'm obsessed. This dude is legit.

The Nashville Sound and Something More Than Free are the two that are speaking most to me right now but I don't think I've heard anything that I dislike.

2. The Cumberland Gap (The Nashville Sound)
3. 24 Frames ( Something More Than Free)
4. If It Takes a Lifetime (Something More Than Free)
5. Codeine (Here We Rest)
6. Anxiety (The Nashville Sound)
7. Songs That She Sang in the Shower (Southeastern)
8. We've Met (Here We Rest)
9. Go It Alone (Here We Rest)
10. Tupelo (The Nashville Sound)
11. White Man's World (The Nashville Sound)
12. Speed Trap Town (Something More Than Free)
13. Cover Me Up (Southeastern)
14. Alabama Pines (Here We Rest)
15. Hudson Commodore (Something More Than Free)
16. Molotov (The Nashville Sound)
17. Stockholm (Southeastern)

That's as far as I've gotten so far. But I LOVE that mix. :heartbeat: :heartbeat: :heartbeat:

I added some songs since my initial post, though I'm not 100% on the order. It's a work in progress at this point. But here you go!

Telling people which songs should be on their playlist is a dumb thing to do, but If We Were Vampires should be on your playlist.

It's the final song on my playlist (again, not all of them are listed above because it's still a work in progress). And it's also one of my all time favorite songs.

Oh, I didn't click the link. Next time I'll click the link. Probably. It's a good playlist.

I want to trim it down a bit, for sure. I'm listening now and trying to figure out what to cut. I'm just too into all of his stuff right now. It's hard to be objective and make cuts. I'd like to get it down to 23 or 24 songs.

Thanks Joe. I'll save it but wait till you've trimmed yourself into shape.
