I've been born and bred a Tigers fan, being from Michigan. I started being a Cubs fan at about 5-6 years old; my grandfather was from Milwaukee, and when he lived there they didn't have the Brewers and so he watched a lot of Cubs games on WGN. When they moved to Michigan, he could still watch them. And so he and I would always watch the Cubs when we were "up north" (skitch will get that) where we couldn't watch the Tigers because we couldn't get PASS (skitch will get that one too). Because the Tigers and Cubs never played each other, it wasn't an issue. That is until 1984. We had tickets to games 1 and 2 of the World Series that were never played because the Cubs, although being up 2 games to none, decided to botch game 3 and go ahead to lose the NLCS. I thought about interjecting but I didn't want to be wrong. I wasn't sure if the Tigers were your AL team and the Cubs your overall team.
When i moved to Chicago, i was able to get a partial season ticket plan to the Cubs (back when they still sold them and they were "affordable"). I held on to those tickets until about 2014 after we moved to the burbs and it became impossible to go to or sell tickets to the games. I still was able to make every home playoff game in 2015-2017 though and still saved money.
If the Tigers ever play the Cubs, I will always root for the Tigers. But that's usually only 3 games every 3 years.
