Yep :)

We’re in the home stretch.

A trailer. A title. A poster.

Gonna be awesome even if I don’t like the title.

I didn’t post the link but Rian was Rudely asked the other day would he mind if JJ retconned what he’d done in TLJ.

Ever gracious and excited he said not at all. He’s excited to sit down with no expectations or demands and just hopes it’s w great movie and JJ takes us somewhere unexpected.

We don’t deserve Rian Johnson.

Oh dear

’I wasn’t supposed to be there’ Abrams says after the town hall. ‘I wasn’t the guy, ya know?’( that was Jurassic World Director Colin Trevorow, who left the Star Wars project unceremoniously in September 2017.)
Abrams admits that his decision to take over the film at the request of Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy was a ‘leap of faith, but ‘this crazy challenge that could have been a wildly uncomfortable contortion of ideas and shoving in of answers and Band-Aids and bridges...I feel like we’ve gotten to a place-without jinxing anything-where we might have something incredibly special’
- JJ Abrams

So in the same time frame Trevorrow was supposed to film Episode IX, Abrams and Terrio had to re-write episode IX AND film it?

I have to use it....

No.
Colin had presented his script.

It was unworkable in light of Carrie Fisher passing.

That’s all.

All we know about it is that Leia would be a big feature and Mark Hamill has said he loved it and suggested Luke had a lot more to do in it. But we’ll never know.

I’ll take JJ over Colin every day of the week anyways.

You know my thoughts on TLJ, but retconning for the sake of "fixing" the trilogy, or "righting wrongs" done by a previous director seems very childish and disrespectful to the crews that help build the movies.

And listening to fans in between movie developments is a bad idea too. Just go with your gut and what your development team have created and see what happens.

Plus, a trilogy full of retcons sounds like a disjointed disaster.

As I said, it was an obnoxiously rude question to ask him. And he handled it with his usual charm. No way in the world JJ listens to fans either. They don’t make movies by commitee or focus groups. Thank god

This is one of the bad things about the internet. Something boils and festers within fan groups, and is constantly bubbling on the surface for real journalists and amateur journalists alike to use in their stories or interviews. But with the internet, it always stays near the forefront.

this retcon thing was probably discussed on some fan forum, then this journalist (or whatever) saw it discussed somewhere and thought it would be an awesome clickbait story to get in the limelight, and decides to ask Rian Johnson.

Luckily, Rian doesn't fall into the trap and makes it a non-issue.

Also, too many media outlets, some not so professional as others, and most just seem to scour the internet and steal stories without any research.

Definitely had big outlets like Collider pushing the retcon idea.
Who even listens to them.

But you’re bang on about the shoddy lazy journalism. And scouting of fan sites.

One of the reasons that people like Mike zeroh are actually so damaging. Create a billion fake news stories about leaks of things in the film, creates totally fake narrative and massive expectations and people up in arms with Star wars when none of it happens.
They don’t get angry with the guy creating the bullshit. They get angry with Disney for not doing what they had heard or demanded.

Fuckin internet

LOL. yeah regarding Mike Zeroh. You google "Star Wars news" and his videos pop up in the results. New ones each day with new tidbits. You'd have to wonder if this was legitimate how would he be getting all of these scoops. Bleh.

From an Abrams interview posted at starwarsnewsnet.com, it does sound like Abrams and Co. had to start from scratch with only the 2 year deadline in play.
FC: What were the time constraints?

Abrams: Because they had announced release dates, and everything works backwards.

FC: Was the schedule unusually fast?

Abrams: To have no script and to have a release date and have it be essentially a two-year window when you’re saying (to yourself), you’ve got two years from the decision to do it to release, and you have literally nothing . . . . You don’t have the story, you don’t have the cast, you don’t have the designers, the sets. There was a crew, and there were things that will be worked on for the version that preceded ours, but this was starting over.
I think he had less time than TFA to come up with a script, pre-production, etc. for Episode IX

I figure that this is the last moment for me, of anticipation, of anxiety of knowing the title, a teaser, a trailer for a SW movie i really care about. Im a SW fan but i dont need all the other stories..sure, i like em enough, ill watch them but for me SW is this story.

So, last ride guys. Last ride.

I'm so happy to be removed from the hardcore fandom of this property. I can mostly enjoy the movies and other content on their own without the toxicity, snark, complaints, and pettiness.
