I'm stunned by the show's seemingly infinite capacity to surprise me. It's such an obvious show in so many ways. But they always seem to be able to sneak one or two past me every time.

Had no idea the mother was the bass player in the wedding band. Of course she is!

I really liked the episode a lot. And I really, really hope this is the final season.

I don't know. If Barney's sister was the mother she would be at the wedding anyway, not just getting a last minute booking as the wedding band. I can't see Barney inviting his dad and his family without the sister coming as well. The only way this all holds up is if Barney doesn't invite anyone from that part of his family and the sister just ends up their as the bass player by shit luck.

It would have to be a "coincidence", sure, but the sister could be in the band. As far as we know, Barney hasn't met his sister yet, and he might just invite his father and his wife, a lot of couples don't want kids at their wedding (it's Robin and Barney after all). That would give the writer's something to build on... Ted dating Barney's sister, Barney hating it... *shrug*
