I fully respect that opinion. However, Rogue One may be the best non OT movie, and it doesn't have John Williams music.bune wrote:Still haven't seen the trailer - it's been a particularly active Friday afternoon here and ideas are flying - but I saw this:

It's a nice sentiment, for sure. Williams' music has been amazing in the saga and it will be missed. But if TFA being the first SW movie made without George Lucas involved doesn't disqualify that film as "True Star Wars" then nothing does.

Also, there's nothing wrong with Star Wars now. He didn't ruin anything.

The prequels are so unappreciated here, it's sad. For their flaws, they also do many things better than the sequels. George certainly didn't ruin SW.Monkey_Driven wrote:George ruined SW.durdencommatyler wrote:It's a nice sentiment, for sure. Williams' music has been amazing in the saga and it will be missed. Yes, even if you hate what he did with the prequels, the above sentence is correct.durdencommatyler wrote:Also, there's nothing wrong with Star Wars now. He didn't ruin anything.

I don't like any of the PT films more than the modern day crop of SW films, but I do really appreciate a lot of the PT. Some really cool stuff in there. Some fucking terrible stuff, too. But I think there's some weird/bad/clunky stuff in all SW films.

True. We may rate/rank the movies a bit differently, but I can agree with everything else of that.durdencommatyler wrote:I don't like any of the PT films more than the modern day crop of SW films, but I do really appreciate a lot of the PT. I think it’s funnier if you read it with Balki from Perfect Stranger’s voice.

Lucas made up for the bad stuff from the prequels with The Clone Wars.
Well, except for Jar Jar. Nothing can make up for that.

I've really grown to love the PT even with the flaws. Obi-Wan is one of my favorite all time characters. And I think a lot of the imagery and camera work is gorgeous. Lucas could have used more help but he's always been a better "idea man" than anything else I think.
Either way, I don't hate any of the Star Wars films to date. There are things to like in all of them.

I do love that Jar Jar/Mace arc in the later seasons (5 maybe??) of Clone Wars, though.

I see no reason he can’t come back as a force ghost a la Obi-Wan, Anakin, Yoda and Luke.Anders wrote:I agree that something like that is the most likely, probably in the old death star.durdencommatyler wrote:In all seriousness I don't think Palpatine will be alive again in this.
