In Rinzlers making of return of the Jedi book, the original treatment for ROTJ Lucas had Obi wan and Yoda as force ghosts helping Luke duel the emperor and Vader in a big lava cave.
This obviously got cut and transferred to the throne room.
Could we see it happen here? Palps found a way to be a force ghost (if he died at all?) and Luke Obi wan _____ force ghost helping Rey in a final battle?
All force powers n lightning n stuff?

Him saying that depends on where palps turn up though. And how he does.
Listening to screen junkies just now and they’re talking about Hayden and Ewan rumoured to be filming. First I’ve heard of it.

Some interesting stuff from the modern canon here. Although I guess the movies usually do what they want.

They believe that dead Sith can still affect the living, and could be connected to artifacts from deceased Sith Lords. In fact, in the Aftermath trilogy this group obtained Vader’s lightsaber years after the battle of Endor."

The shot of the death star in the water is so fucking beautiful. Hope there is more of that. JJ is bringing back the old rusty feel we got in TFA and i love that.
Im sure Obi Wan and Anakin or Vader are going to be in this one too.

Just on the haunted / possessed helmet thing, they laid groundwork for this with Momins helmet in the Lando comic and later the Vader comic run..helps Vader design his castle on Mustafar

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
While I don't like the emperor returning thinking about this movie as a sequel to TLJ, if you think of this movie as a capstone to a IX movie arc it sits a little better (pending execution, obviously).
Given the 'cheat death' elements of Palpetine's back story, I wonder if he reincarnates himself/transfers his consciousness to other bodies and they will decide that Snoke was the emperor in a new form, and part of this story will be about how to permanently defeat him. I think I'd be okay with that - it fits into established mythology okay, and recontextualizes snoke (I don't think he needs it but I know the lack of knowledge about him bothers some) - and the way he manipulates Hux and Kylo does fit into how he treats Anakin in the prequels (and explains why he hates Luke so much)
I would greatly prefer this to making Rey somehow connected to him

What if the title refers to Luke in a religious sense like ajesus rising from the dead?
I mean I doubt it given his dialogue but that could we easily be a huge misdirect
We know JJ likes misdirects

And Palpatine is Vader's father (through manipulation of the midichlorians) so Rey is actually Kylo's great-auntie.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Oh my god. Palpatine is Rey’s father. Of course he is.

That would be amazing, but i doubt it. It seems to hint about a new kind of organization.dimejinky99 wrote:What if the title refers to Luke in a religious sense like ajesus rising from the dead?

I really do think the title will be open to several interpretations, even after we’ve seen the movie. Even if one will be the most obvious one.

The chiss word for the force sensitive children they use to navigate in the unknown regions translates as Skywalker.
Heavens to Betsy I’m gonna have to listen to that last Thrawn book again. Alliances.
It’s got Anakin and Vader in it too
