Re: Mind Your Manners
The artwork on the album itself (iconic, archetypal, broadbrush) gave us a hint of how they'd continue that in this video, I think. I'm impressed with the general art direction of this one so far; it suits the musical thrust of MYM and seems much more thematically consistent and less random or whimsical than the last two albums. I hope they continue it over the album. Obviously I need to like the songs as well, but if so, I'm sold.

The sponge song will be the big question mark on the thematical glue of this album.harmless wrote:The artwork on the album itself (iconic, archetypal, broadbrush) gave us a hint of how they'd continue that in this video, I think. Why is MYM so quiet compared to my other mp3s? I hope it's not like that on the album.

Wow, I asked this and I was laughed off the stage. Same here. It also seems quiet compared to the "bookends" 50's footage on either side of the video. I'm hoping it'll have more balls on the album, or at least that, if it's quiet, the other tracks are as well.Lounge Lizard wrote:Why is MYM so quiet compared to my other mp3s? I've been listening to it separately from other stuff. It only just struck me now how quiet it is compaired to my other stuff on shuffleharmless wrote:Wow, I asked this and I was laughed off the stage. Same here. The soundcloud version is twice as loud as the official video audio.

And how does one download a clip from soundcloud?

I would feel better about it if I thought this quietness was a reaction to the 'Loudness Wars', but it doesn't sound like it.

There is an option do download this in flac or wav. It's lossy encoding with different codecs that causes the differences. There's a reason it's called lossy. Also different codecs will colour the sound in different ways. Some even involve psychoacoustic effects making the difference even larger.

Re: Mind Your Manners
You think these things will be fixed on the album?

I think it will sound the same as the flac.

Ah well, hopefully it'll be consistent with the album anyway.

Raising money for one side is an overt act of support though.harmless wrote:A bit like me. Re: Mind Your Manners
This is true. But I don't assume that prior total support of Obama (which, let's be honest, was easy to have in the run-up to his presidency) condemns Ed in any way now. Neither do I need him to tell me overtly if he's not entirely happy with Obama now (even if I hope he isn't). Heck, from a UK standpoint I'm all for Obamacare, so I don't need Ed to viciously attack Obama like he did Bush... who was just an out-and-out ignoramus and supremely dangerous for being that. But I'll admit it would be nice if some acknowledgement was given, somewhere, that everything isn't so simple now. Whatever happens, I think it's pretty baseless to cry "Hypocrite!" until we find out more.cutuphalfdead wrote:Raising money for one side is an overt act of support though.harmless wrote:A bit like me. But hey, I do believe there is 'better', 'bad' and 'worse' in politics. I think the "They're all as bad as each other" line is just an excuse for apathy.

Re: Mind Your Manners
oh sure, but given what illumineddie was complaining about there is a big difference between supporting someone because you love everything about them, and supporting someone overtly to stop something you hate. I suspect obama is somewhere in betweencutuphalfdead wrote:Raising money for one side is an overt act of support though.harmless wrote:A bit like me. Stip, did you get my PM? I'm a little bit pissed off as I don't think it sent and I took ages on it.

Gah. As I thought. If I can remember what the poll categories were I'll send it again.
