Ugh, why is anyone even talking about Pearl Jam still when NSync reunited last night? :D

This article is an excellent read. It's an interview with artist Andy Smetanka who helped with the animation for the MYM video. Here's an interesting excerpt:

"Another great thing about the digital process was that it created, as a sort of happy by-product of the animation, literally thousands of huge JPG files for the band to incorporate into both the Electronic Press Kit and the album artwork for the upcoming release! Double bonus!"

Uh? So as of 8/23, the album artwork may still not be finished?

Also, here's another interesting snippet:

"Are you a Pearl Jam fan or, if not, have you been converted in any way?
AS: I don't own any Pearl Jam recordings apart from a CD burn of just this one song, but I definitely consider myself a fan of the band, more for what they stand for than for the music itself (although the song is a corker!). As many who know me will surely point out, this has not always been the case. Along with certain other Indy writers, I used to be infamous for knocking them in print every chance I got back in the mid-to-late '90s. But the truth is that I've never had any substantive beef with them, and in my experience it's hard to find anyone who does. We were young, snotty punks and we wanted enemies. Now, of course, the idea of little punks like we were then casting aspersions on what is and is not worthwhile music and "selling out" is just comical to me."

Dude seems to have his head screwed on, which is... all too rare in PJ articles these days.
Yep. That's a fantastic quote. I like this guy and I don't even know who the slimy fuck he is.

bluestate wrote:What's interesting about the article is that this guy says he was working on the animation for this during the month of July... and some of the leftover images could possibly be incorporated into the album artwork for LB.

So when they announced the album back on 7/11.. there was no finalized album artwork... which might be why we didn't get a tracklist either...

They are still working on the album! That scares me a bit
It shouldn't. It's a good thing.

In this day and age there's no reason to sit on a fully completed project. I HOPE they're still finalizing things. Otherwise, why wait until October?

This.

But it wouldn't surprise me if they did something new at the last minute. Similar to what happened with Gone. There is a bit of a precedence for something like that. But, yeah, I can't imagine there's any major overhaul going on right now. Just finalizing.

Maybe this can be a thread / poll: the state of your fandom before and after the new album.
start a thread and pm me the poll options you want and I'll put it up
Or someone could give me my hard won poll making privileges back and I'll do it.

If that is true I hope they got the message.
I doubt they were involved in it. Also, since we have these songs I'd prefer they not be on an album based on the Ole principle.
But what we've heard are supposedly rough mixes, right? I wouldn't mind hearing a different "final" mix or even a different take of those songs should they appear on the album. Though, I'm with the group inclined to believe these are old songs, not songs from the LB sessions.

I'm worried about a new take of CC for the one reason that Matt might totally change the drummming.

It amazes me that no one has been able to track how, why and who leaked these. Couldn't the properties on the songs be traced to the original drop point? Can't we pull an ip address? C'mon RMers in the Tech Space.
kurtleon got them. i dont think he's at liberty to say where he got them from.
Yeah, I'd never pose that question to kurtleon. It wouldn't be fair.

But in this day in age with the NSA, wikileaks, FB/Twitter hacks, etc., etc., I gotta believe a decent - I dunno what to call it - hacker maybe? - can find out where these came from....
he talks about it this in platy's interview

So let him. Different takes are always fun. Plus we have those rough mixes. It would nice to have "final" mixes to complain about by comparison.

Trouble is, for once in a fairly long time, we have a song with a really cool groove. I happen to think the drumming on ATW is really good, and that's the closest Backspacer got to this groovyness. I wouldn't want it to be simplified here.

I'm thinking back a long ways now, but wasn't Amongst the Waves the one song you were bummed about the drumming on when you did that fantastic drummer review of backspacer? I am thinking of FoN?

Because 0.3 seconds of the MYM video, if you pause it in the right place, is dedicated to a picture of NSync circa 1997.
I saw that, and I can dig it :D

Miley Cyrus twerked too apparently. I think that's a type of baking, and that's infinitely more interesting than waiting for this record.

I watched that on youtube today. How hilarious it would have been to hear the choreographer go over what to do.

Okay Miley, pretend your vagina is an instrument and strum it. Then walk by the woman with the big butt and pretend to eat it out. Cut, cut, Miley listen just pretend you have balls down your throat, do whatever you can think of to make the horniest sleaziest guy no longer be attracted to you. Action.
