Ube / purple yam

I keep encountering ube in various foods and desserts, and I just can’t quite get my taste buds used to them. It really is one of the strangest tastes.

Do you guys use ube in food?

The weirdest thing...I had a post typed up and I swear I submitted it but it's not here. Now I wonder what ether it's floating in.

Anyway, while I was TDY'd up to Seattle there was a Filipino market just down the street that the people there went to for lunch. The Filipino guy told me to try the ube rolls and they were amazing. I grabbed a bag and brought them back home with me and my family loved them too. We found two markets in the Portland area that sell them and neither were as good sadly. I've been meaning to find a recipe myself so I'll use this as the impetus for actually following through.
