also, i missed it (and it's probably been explained before), but did the walkers just hibernate for 1000 years? how did they come back? were they buried in ice (I think I remember reading this somewhere)? were they really defeated the first time if they were able to resurrect themselves?
Meta, outside-the-show explanation: one of the spinoff series will probably cover The Long Night (the first time the Walkers came around), so HBO might not want to spoil that before the new series airs.

All we really know from the world of the show/books (more the books) is that a figure known as The Last Hero ventured into the deep north to get help from the Children of the Forest in order to defeat the Others the first time around. During the promotional run for Season 7, lots of people saw parallels with Jon venturing north with his merry band for some reason (this was before we knew it was to capture a wight), but all of the Last Hero's companions died in that effort, while Jon only lost Thoros. We don't really have an explanation for why they're back at this particular moment in history, but there's evidence in both the show and the books that there's an "awakening" of magic around this time (the birth of Dany's dragons, an increased interest in the Red God, glass candles gaining power again [those are from the books and never mentioned in the show, but they're important]), and perhaps the Walkers are drawn down because of it. Given what was revealed in the most recent episode--that the Night King is specifically after Bran because he wants to kill the Three-Eyed Raven--there's a chance, too, I suppose, that the re-emergence of the Walkers has to do with Bran's development as a warg/greenseer.

This whole Bran thing needs to be either used or it's limitations explained soon cause there are a LOT of scenarios where he could at the bare minimum be helping with intel but he's doing seemingly nothing. His gift has to be more than a deus ex machina to explain Jon's parentage.

Maybe it like a Sauron kind of situation, where there was a defeat but not a complete vanquish, then everybody sort of forgets, and then a period of quiet rebuilding? To my knowledge it hasn't really been explained adequately.

Bran probably has to relay the right information at the right time to ensure a result. If he lets people know stuff too soon or too late events could change. He told Sam NOW is the time to tell Jon about his parents.

Is the 3 eyed raven limited to knowledge from the weirwood trees? If so, wold that limit his knowledge to basically the north since most are gone now? I feel like there is going to be a lot not explained about the 3 eyed raven stuff.

Regarding the next episode, does anything think Winterfell may be a decoy. I've read some articles, and was thinking it after last week's episode, that what if all this buildup is a diversion? King's Landing is a sitting duck with nothing to fight the army of the dead with. What if the Night King goes there with an army/dragon while the rest go to Winterfell?

Apparently the next episode leaked online. I may actually watch it as ill be out of town camping this weekend and in LA the following.

There is so much about this show that I do not know or understand yet I still find it fascinating.

I can see it going one of two ways after the Battle of Winterfell:

1. The battle ruins Winterfell and the survivors retreat south. The final three episodes are the survivors on the run culminating in a large battle at King's Landing.

2. The Night King (and Viserion) pull a Robb Stark and splits his army. The majority of the Wights and several White Walkers descend on Winterfell causing lots of damage, but ultimately falling. The Night King and Viserion destroy King's Landing and have an army of 1 million Kings Landingers to face our heroes again in later episodes.

If Jaimie does could Arya take his face and she goes and kills Cersei? Making the clamour for the throne a lot easier to deal with

I mean she could but could it happen?

Arya uses Jamie's face to kill Cersei. Bran uses his powers to defeat the night king. John Snow will have to choose between love and the iron throne and will, for once, choose his rightful path and put a sword through the mother of dragons.

The end

He has to, right? He's just jumped around to survive, I hope that continues to the end.

Absolutely. He’s likeable but he is a mercenary. I can’t see him killing Tyrion but I can see him killing Jaimie after a moments hesitation.

When he’s going to get the opportunity to do that is another thing. Winterfell is surrounded and the very very very elastic travel times in GOT could have him arrive during the battle or long after.

Arya is my absolute favorite as well and that is why I love it. She gets to kill Cersei, probably the most significant of those remaining on her list. AND it doesn't betray the prophecy at all. It makes all the sense it the world to me and I want it to happen so badly. But that's probably exactly why it won't.

Just because Cersei asked him to, I really don't think Bronn will kill either of the brothers.

I’m just realising. He can’t really be there can he?
Let’s say they deal with the night king and all have to go to kings landing.
Will bron have struck by then? Or will he at all?

Arya taking Jaimies face (somehow) when he dies fulfills the prophecy about Cersei too but double whammy if it’s Arya wearing his face
