actually if I ended up really liking the album and they had a little poster set of all this stuff I'd probably buy it, assuming I like the other stuff.
more playingcards, baseball cards, or polaroids?
I don't care about baseball, so not that. But I don't care about playing cards either, and I still want a pack of playing cards with these images on the back. Or better yet, Tarot cards.

Anorther Cresant...that's interesting. This art is making you think as opposed to Backspacer's art.

Just realised this and wrote it somewhere else so I'll put it in here too.

If MYM is track two, "They're taking young innocents and then they throw 'em on a burning pyre" might really add to the FD family / children theme, especially given the lovers covered in branches "effigy" thing the FD artwork has going on, and the obvious allusion to fertility.

I spent hours thinking about the Backspacer artwork. Why was that pimp on that tricycle? Where is this land of giant ladies that he appears to have found himself lost in? What did the Gilligan do to make the robot want to attack him? What irresponsible jerk at NASA told that astronaut he could play drums in space? Why wasn't Ed railing against what a waste of tax dollars that must have been? And if a ghost attacks you while you're synchronized swimming, is kicking at him really the best defense?

Lightning Bolt's artwork will have a long way to go before it's as thought provoking as Backspacer's.

It all depends on the tracks themselves. Backspacer's artwork was very thought-provoking until the slight blandness of the lyrics cheapened the art in retrospect. I guess we'll only know how much it 'speaks' when we have the songs. Until then we're only responding to the style. I love the consistent black / red / grey / white colour scheme, and I like the dark moody style set against little touches of humour. Stylistically I prefer it to the Backspacer artwork, which I found far too bright and garish in the context of PJ's past artwork. This stuff suits the "canon" more, imo.

I'll be completely honest. When the artwork for Backspacer came out, I had no problem with it (and honestly, I still don't...it's the music itself I don't care for). It wasn't an avocado, so I felt good about that.

Me too. I really loved it, and I'm not even saying I don't like it now. If anything, I just think it was *too* clever for the music. Which might sound like I'm contradicting myself, but it's a bit like a person being told they're "over-qualified" for a shitty job that they want just to pay the bills while they pursue their dreams.

Yeah, I always quite liked the Backspacer artwork (if not much else about the record).

I really dig everything we've seen from the Lightning Bolt art.

I thought the backspacer art looked badly drawn, and even if it wasn't i didn't really like a lot of the images, they were all traced anyway weren't they? There was a lot of stuff going on, shoulda stuck with just the anatomy model thing.

Disclaimer: i don't have the cd so i haven't actually seen it in real life.

Apparently this FD artwork links to iTunes? Might it go on sale soon?

Even though it's a weak song, I'd be happy to hear a new studio track off the album. I hope you're right.

Wait. Maybe they're going to release this one track at a time up until the October date. Didn't the Smashing Pumpkins do something like that?

No, it just links to the album. FD isn't listed on the tracklist. Do we have any indication that they're doing this in order?
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

So did Stone for Moonlander, which is a more obvious precedent.

I don't know how Tom Tomorrow comes by his style, but Backspacer looks exactly like a Tom Tomorrow comic.
