Re: HBO: Game of Thrones (Song of Ice and Fire)
In the after show they said they had known it was gonna be Arya for 3 years, so this is what Martin had in mind but t his is not the true end. I’m more bothered that Bran’s story appears to end with a thud, unless they plan on dragging his ass to fight Cersei--- wrote:beautifully shot, great direction, compelling visually, and i enjoyed the episode overall
however...the plot is such trite schlock at this point that nothing really lands anymore. all the heroes showing up at exaaaactly the right moment and only minor characters biting it and all these deus ex machinas have really lowered the stakes and made the story feel predictable and cheap. how many times can you show a dozen wights crawling on brienne or jaime or grey worm or sam (SAM ffs!) and not have one of them die? it's just fan service now.
i hope GRRM has something better in mind
Killing too many main characters at once would have rendered their deaths emotionless and dull (and Jorah and Theon were pretty main characters).

I’m over the moon davos survives.
That shot of him watching Arya being a killing machine was so brilliant.
Jon and Sansa aren’t aware of her abilities up to now.
You’ll see Bran tell them Arya saved the day and Davos backing it up with his usual salt of the earth take

What a dumb episode in what has become a very dumb show.

Someone said it earlier here, but Jon was pretty useless in this battle.

That’s really necessary though. He’s been bullied and forced into every position he’s had to take.
If he suddenly was a superhero saving the day here it would clash horribly with how they’ve established his character.
It’s not about him on the hero level.
It will be about him when it comes to the political stuff with Dany.
And once again he’ll probably roll over and do what he’s told.

The existential threat to humanity was just a thing they needed an episode to beat before getting to the real fight: Cersei Lannister.

Is Jaimie gonna just stand by while Cersei gets killed?
I can see him jumping in to save her tbh

Maybe theyll anounce a release date for the book right after the finale?

Dany blasting the Night King with dragon flame and him brushing it off also had a Last Jedi vibe.

Arya did a similar trick when sparring with Brienne, but I’m pretty sure i saw that in a John Woo as wellspike wrote:Oh shit, I knew I’d seen that move before but thought it was Arya’s from an earlier season.dimejinky99 wrote:Knew that move was Comin the second he grabbed herseen it before somewhere
