i still feel cheated with no real white walker action and this 8-season-long threat disappearing so quickly and relatively easily.

They could maybe have started on it earlier, but I’m really glad we have three episodes after the Night King is dead.

Could be the cause of the big divide and split loyalties.
Dany will want the throne and all to bend the knee.
Sansa will want independence for the north.

Ghost doing fuck all was among the biggest disappointments of the episode. I thought he’d do something awesome and then die for budgetary reasons. My derp wolf was more active during the 80 minutes than Ghost.

I haven't read anything about this today, so I can't be sure, but: there's been this story going around for years that when the showrunners met with Martin to discuss the series' end, he revealed 3 plot points to them that made them say, "Holy shit." They've confirmed that two of them have happened: the burning of Princess Shireen and "Hold the door!" I am wondering if Arya killing the Night King is #3. If it is, then I don't think it's on the level with the others. I also wonder (and this is a post I'm planning for the book thread soon) if there will even be an analogous moment in the books, since there is no Night King as of yet.

I'm going to say it's not the third thing. Benioff kinda tips his hand on that in the post-ep interview (at least, that's how I took it).

I'll have to watch that, I almost never do. From what I recall, they had said the third moment was from the "very end."

It feels antithetical at this point to me. I agree it would still be cool to see Arya take of a person that's basically been #1 on her list from the jump. But what happened last night makes it sort of irrelevant.

My hope is that whatever else happens with "The Last War" that Arya lives and heads west of west. I want her to roam and explore and be a sort of ninja-jedi-avenging angel in the unexplored lands beyond the known world.
