Arya's entire arc paid off. Every Arya scene mattered and reflected the journey.

The other walkers shattered so I assume the baby did as well. I also assumed that being turned into an Other pretty much accelerated growth into the wispy haired walkers we know and love

So, Miguel Sapochnik is also directing ep 5, yeah? I think it's safe to assume, then that GoT is following it's familiar formula even in this truncated season. The penultimate ep will be another big battle. Probably with the "shocking twist" everyone is desperate for. And then the final will be the fallout and quiet resolution -- the dream of spring, as it were.

The best: 1. Theon and Bran 2. The scene with the Dothraki. 3. Tyrion and Sansa 4. In general: the action, the mood, the music, the tension, the intensity. 5. Lyanna - what a hero. 6. When Davos sees Arya fight. 7. Arya’s episode (What do we say: Not Today).

Good: 1. Arya’s killing of the Night King. 2. Jon fighting. 3. Dany vs the Night King. 4. Sir Friend Zone. 5. Beric and the Hound 6. The Red Woman. 7. Sam and Edd. 8. Dragons attacking. 9. The fire around Winterfell.

Not good: 1. Too dark. 2. Dragons in the snow storm. 3. The whitewalkers all being destroyed in one episode. 3. Nearly all major characters saved at the last moment several times. 4. Ghost in one scene, and then gone.

All in all a successful episode.

Yeah, that's where I'm at with it, too. But I thought it was worth spinning in the ol' brain. If that's where you're at, though, I'm gonna roll with it.

I basically had this horrible vision of a final scene, after all the dust settled in Westeros, that we cut up to the way north and land of always winter and we see that fucking baby open his blue eyes and that's the big final "cliffhanger" shot. And I really, really, really, REALLY don't want anything like that.
