I thought his redemption was the best part of the episode.

I'm sure others will agree. But the was so far beyond redemption for me. There was no way he was coming back at all. For me, there was no redemption. He was a piece of shit and he didn't deserve to live as long as he did.

He’s done some bad stuff, but so has many others, like Dany and Jaime. He’s done a lot of good lately. You can’t really be redeemed without doing bad things. I’ll agree that someone like Kylo or Cersei is nearly impossible.

Bran even said: «Thank you Theon. You are a good man.» Then he dies while trying to protect Bran. Can’t get much more redeemed than that.

He died in the Winterfell Godswood, as he should. But it should be with his neck on a block and either Stannis or Jon swinging a sword.

I’ve seen that you don’t think Jaime should get off free either.

You're god damned right he shouldn't.

By that logic, most of the characters on the show deserve the same.

Arya killed all the 51 male members of House Frey with poison.
Daenarys have several times killed people (I will answer injustice with injustice), she didn’t know were guilty (guilt by association), or executed those who didn’t want to join her (like the Tarly’s).

Like I said, we have different rubrics/perspectives on this stuff. In a story that deals so much with ambiguity and grey morality, I can find plenty of room for Arya (especially) and Dany. Noble causes may be hollow to some but in the world they've created, I believe they are meaningful. This is all super complex stuff with no easy answers and that's what I like about it. Reducing each character to "killing innocents" or "bad" or "good" is missing the forest for the trees, I think. Or at least, it's not a very compelling argument to me.

i really do like how it came full circle with arya using the dagger that nearly ended bran's life in the first season to save it (and all of humanity) here.
